Unable to view/connect local host after setting up Synology NAS

Server Version#: Synology DS218+
Player Version#: 1.18.5.2309

After installing synology NAS, I am no longer able to view my local pc libraries. When I attempt to add a library, I can only add folders from Synology.

I have tried accessing the Plex site through Synology IP address & thru Localhost but still unable to view/add local PC library.

  1. Sign out of Plex/web browser
  2. Do not use app.plex.tv until after server has been attached to your Plex account.
  3. Open an incognito browser window (locally)
  4. open http://ip.addr.of.syno:32400/web
  5. Begin the Welcome, Got-It, and setup process.

Hi

Thanks for instructions. I tried the above and I am able to add library folders from Synology.

Is there a way to add a library folder from my main PC? When doing the setup, the only option I have is to select folders from Synology.

No, you cannot add media that way.

Synology is a NAS and on Synology, it expected the media to be local to it.

If you want to serve files from your PC, Install & setup the server on your PC…

or move to the Synology.
