I am running Plex on Synology, and everything worked fine for years. Recently, Plex has been asking me to logon in order to use, so I created an Plex account and got the lifetime pass. However, I don’t see my library and can’t find a way to add it when I go to http://nas:32400.
I looked at Plex.tv
There are no servers listed under this email account. Is this the correct email to look at?
Are you using DSM 6 or DSM 7 ?
You say you’re using http://nas:32400/web
Using a name in the URL is usually a bad idea for the first time or if you need to reclaim/reattach it to your account.
Best to open it by its LAN IP e.g. http://Lan.IP.of.Syno:32400/web
If you’re still having problems, I’ll ask
-
Are you certain the Syno is connecting to the internet OK?
( Package Center works – shows you possible packages you can install ) -
Did you recently put media in the Plex/PlexMediaServer shared folder
and manually change permissions or ownership?
(this is the most common cause of problems for running servers)
DSM 7. Using the IP of the NAS produces the same result. I still only see most of the Plex GUI, including authorized devices, webhooks, and manage library access. I just do see Library or where to add a Library.
Synology has internet access, and the folder containing media files on Synology has read/write permission for Plex local account. The local library on this Synology has been working for years, but new media continue to be added / deleted over time.
I am going to suggest you do two procedures.
- Stop PMS
- Next, we’ll make sure the permissions inside the PlexMediaServer shared folder didn’t get damaged somehow ( When PMS can’t save the ownership – it will ask you every time – means the Preferences.xml file can’t be written to )
- Lastly, we’ll claim the server using the Claim Token method to insure it gets back on your account ( Successful attachment will display your Plex username when it finishes )
(( I’m about to go offline. Let me know how you make out ))
After reading your last reply, I jumped straight to uninstall and reinstall with the claim option. I remember I claimed the server a month ago, when this all stopped working. After that, all my NAS libraries came back without me needing to re-add them. Thanks for your help!
