I’m a very great fan of ‘Mayday’ and I see I can find all Seasons on Plex but they will not allow me to watch and or download any ones I would want to keep. Why bother having them on the listings if I cannot access them?
I’m not sure which of our apps you are using or if our website but you cannot download them because the distributors who owns the rights to them are paid via advertisements during playback and they do not want folks to.
I would need to know where you are located if there is some mistake in geo-restrictions for that title as far as playback
We show all thing regardless if we have them available for streaming of not. If they are available on other streaming services available in your geo-region we will show that too when we can
I live in Australia and I was going to go Premium but I will not unless I can access what I want to watch. For what you have explained Plex is a Streaming Service and thus no download anyway.
When I go on Plex I go to the main page and go from there. I type waht I’m looking for and have found ‘Mayday’; or as its called here in Australia 'Air Crash Investigation" but cannot gain access to watch let alone download.
We have 3 thigns
- free streaming content that is provided by content owners ( paid for with advertising) this cannot be downloaded and may be geo-restricted for playback based on what the content owner allows us to . that particular titlle https://watch.plex.tv/show/mayday-2 is geo restricted to just the USA
- we display all metadata we can find all movies and shows we know about and if we know it is available on a streaming service. We can tell you it is on Netfllx in your region and have a link so you can go to the Netfllix app to watch for example. This metadata is also use for the Plex Media Server
- You can install the free Plex Media Server on your computer to stream your own files from that computer to our player apps available on various types of devices. Sort of like installing itunes on your computer. The metadata in #2 is also used to make the display of movies and such look nice with posters, summaries and actor data etc. You can give access to your files to other folks with Plex accounts. and can play stuff back locally on network or remotely
The paid subscription “Plex Pass” (aka Premium) allows for downloading content from a Plex Media Server and other benefits for the person running the Plex Media Server. It does not grant access to download the ad supported content from content owners.
I can give you links to more details but it does not seem like a subscription for premium would be worth it for you
Thank you for your reply. So as usual we here in Australia miss out, which is a shame as we get very limited access compared to the USA and others. We are those people ‘down under.’.
As for the Series being available on ‘Netflix’ here in Australia that appears not to be the case. I wish it was. If you have a link for Netflix that does show this Series that I don’t know about please by all means let me know what it is. Further if you do have other possible links please let me know what they are, as it would be much appreciated. The company that produces ‘Mayday’ is ‘Cineflix’ in Canada and they used to put the Seasons on DVD. That is no longer the case and they stopped at Season 20 and there’s been Season 21, 22 and 23 since with Season 24 to be released in the new year. I’ve seen that a company called ‘Dailymotion’ has the Series and some Episodes but they have ALL been played with with Watermarks and Advertising spread all over the place during the actual Video. It makes a real mess and is not worth watching let alone downloading…
I’ve tried in vain to remove the Watermarks and Advertising but without luck. I’m very disappointed in ‘Cineflix’s’ attitude and I believe they are going into ‘Live Streaming’ which also will make it unavailable to us hear in Australia where believe it or not this Show has its biggest following.
Anyway thanks for your help and any others suggestions you may have forthcoming.
Thanks, gregstevenson973.
Sorry I did not mean that show was on Netflix. I was just using as an example of if we knew where something was available streaming.
OK, no problem. For what I can see there is two ‘Pay’ Channels that have been showing this show.
They are ‘The Disney Channel Australia’ and ‘Apple’; both of which charge very big fees to access their channels. These two channels by the way are not consistent in showing the Episodes and often miss some altogether. As you would appreciate I’m not paying big money for unreliable service. So If you can let me know of any other alternatives; speak to others about my problems here in Australia it would be appreciated.
Thanks Big Wheel.
I downloaded the media server onto my laptop. At least that’s what I think I did. Was accessing your website. I wanted to stream When Calls the Heart. I’m from Calgary Canada. IT asks me what service to stream through and then says it’s not available. Waste of time. The website should tell people that it’s restricted to the USA.
If you can streaming it from us in your region then there should be a Play button on the page.
The Plex Media Server is for streaming your own files that are on your computer
