just moved server to nVidia Shield. same home accounts. same guest accounts. I can get to movies and music from my phone. a friend can also get to the server. my wife cannot get to anything. says the server is OFFLINE. and Unauthorized. no idea what any of this means either.

why is the wife unauthorized? and how do I fix it?

P.S. there was no problem with the previous server. all I did was turn it off and start up nVidia

apparently the post about the what seems to be the root problem was closed??? so I renamed this one…

just created Plex Server on nVidia Shield. seemed to work OK. next day, Unavailable. web page says The server “SHIELD Android TV” does not allow secure connections" no idea what this means.

all I want is for it to just work. but all I get is a bunch of time trying to decipher cryptic errors. how do I get this to work???

P.S. there was no problem with previous server. all I did was turn it off and start up nVidia

using a router running DD-WRT.
have already specified Google Public DNS according to https://support.plex.tv/articles/206225077-how-to-use-secure-server-connections/.

but the section on DSNMASQ, e.g. “rebind-domain-ok=/plex.direct/”, does not compute.

where is this “(the “advanced settings” box in DD-WRT)”?

just curious…there have been no responses.

where do I go for help?

think I found the answer.

in Server | Settings | Network, you need to set “Secure Connections” to “Disabled”.

apparently Required secure connections was causing the server to appear OFFLINE.

seemed to run OK set to Preferred. but, rather than potentially have to deal with this problem again, it is better just to set it to Disabled.

does all this sound right?
