Using HDHomeRun tuners, recording to PC which has Plex server on it. Can’t playback properly as Plex tries to transcode it’s own recording. The audio is coming up undefined, so even VLC can’t play it. Is this an error in the original stream, or Plex’s attempt to record it? The video seems OK, recorded as MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1). The audio comes up as 48kHz, 2 channels but codec (undf).
I have transcode whilst recording disabled. Is anyone else having this problem? This is happening on all HD channels (I’m in the UK). SD seems OK. VLC still says they’re undefined when it opens them, but the audio plays fine and the codec information says the stream is mpeg2 with mpeg audio.
Hmm, In the last few days I’ve had a a few HD only (UK) recording have audio failing to work.
The adverts are fine, but the film content audio is completely mucked up (sounds like it’s going at slow mo pace).
Playing the original files through VLC it has no audio output at all, but it does list the track as MPEG AAC (mp4a).
Like you, non HD content seems fine.
Struggling even after using Handbrake to convert - it still transcodes on Shield as it says the codec (AAC_LACM apparently) isn’t supported. It seems to be OK if the recording has 5.1 audio, but any stereo or mono format comes up as not supported and Handbrake can only keep it in AC3 or AAC stereo which is still unsupported. I can’t playback any recorded TV, either pre-Plex converted or anything HD Plex has recorded. Help please!
I have the same problem in the UK with HD content recorded with HDHomeRun in Plex. In general, documentaries seem fine, but audio on many TV shows (dramas) and movies does not work. Sometimes I can hear the music but not the dialogue. Sometimes I can hear dialogue but voices are badly distorted. All audio works well before the programme starts and during any commercial break. Silicondust Support said that the problem is with the audio settings in Plex regarding 5.1 surround sound.
This is certainly not a playback issue as the audio in the original TS file also does not work in VLC. This has also been a very persistent issue as it has affected recordings since late 2016 at least.
