Hello again.
While re-building my playlists on a Raspberry Pi 5 Plex server I stumbled over an unexpected behaviour in naming static playlists (I am not using any “collections”).
As it seems to be impossible to import former Apple Music or iTunes libraries in XML or m3u format into plex I have to rebuild my playlists by hand. You can guess that over 400 GB of music data isn’t lots of fun but well…
While building new playlist I noticed that neither the Plex Server nor the Plex Player versions showed several playlists I already rebuilt. To be exact:
Any playlist including the word “the” is not showing up anywhere. For example: When building a playlist named “The Alan Parsons Project” or “The Black Seeds” or alike it is not showing up anywhere. When changing the playlist’s name to “Alan Parsons Project” or “Black Seeds” without “the” the list is showing up.
The funny side-aspect: Whenever I made a → new ← playlist without (!) “The” then the formerly not showing up playlist containing “The” suddenly appeared everywhere (but not containing any titles). Furthermore I noticed that I can use “The” one single time within a playlist naming before additional lists containing “the” will not show up (very odd because I at least once need “the” within the naming. Remember “The The”, Matt Johnson?).
While this is not annoying to me it is somewhat confusing. Right now I am only adding music but I plan to add my more than 6000 video titles to the Plex server in the future, too. As You know many cinema movies do contain “The” within their title. You can guess it would be not much fun deleting “The” from the meta data of 6000 titles…
Any idea?
Thanks a lot in advance!
