Server Version#: 1.29.0.6244
Player Version#: 5.47.1 / Platform version 5.5 (Plex for Samsung)
While watching a film on the same local network as the NAS, on a Samsung TV, a number of times the film stopped and I think the error was “Unspecified” or something similarly generic. I had to quit Plex on the TV, go back into the app, and playback resumed from the right place and was then fine for at least 20 mins until the error reocurred.
I restarted the TV and NAS and the same issue happened.
I have just updated my DSM to the update in the title and wondering if people are experiencing the same thing?
In any case - how would I work out what is going wrong? Thanks
An outside thought - this DSM update included a few things on the audio codec side.
“Support for AAC encoded audio is widespread across end devices like smartphones, tablets, computers, and the majority of other media playback devices. The need for AAC transcoding to achieve better compatibility has significantly diminished and will be removed starting with DSM 7.1.1. Starting from DSM 7.1.1, AAC decoding is performed by the end device.”
There was also something prior to the update about having to be connected t the internet in order for Advanced Media Codecs to update.
Could be relevant?
---- although I would expect these to present an immediate problem, not part way through videos…
Thank you for the logs but because you turned off DEBUG logging (does not use more disk space with them on as all logs are 10.5 MB regardless of contents) they don’t provide any useful information.
I can see the error but don’t know what caused it.
Can you please turn DEBUG logging on again (which is the default) and then capture again after it fails?
Regarding Synology audio/video apps – They are as distinct from PMS as would be watching NetFlix or Hulu
I work through them for a while, get frustrated, and then set aside a bit.
One problem :
Permissions on folder Volume1 shared folder video/Family does not allow PlexMediaServer access.

Is the Syno at 192.168.0.5 or is this a player ?
If it’s a player then we’ll need to focus there.
See where the player suddenly disconnects? Either an abrupt exit from the player app or an app fault during playback ?
Having a similar problem. Synology Nas updated to the latest DSM. Several movies are “blacked out” and will not play through Plex. Say “Playback Error: An error occurred loading items to play”. I can’t update the metadata, it just spins in an orange circle and doesn’t show list of options to select. Also, I can play movie directly from NAS login on the Synology playback so I know the files are not corrupt. Rebooted the server, optimized the database, rebooted the Shield TV and server. Thanks for the help.
That’s right. I didn’t mention that, but my Shield is the Server. Didn’t seem fair asking my NAS to do all the heavy lifting. lol. Should I delete the database and start over again or take an earlier backup? Thanks for your help.
I reinstalled Plex on the TV and it seemed fine until I changed a few of the settings. From memory it was only the “click”/feedback sound! But i will reinstall again and only change one setting every few days until I find the culprit…
