Update Problem - Supposed Read-Only Location

Server Version#: 1.19.1.2701
Player Version#: 1.6.3.1009-57cf57c8

Every time I start up the Plex App, it tries to do a server update and even when I try to do it manually, I end up getting this error at the very end of the progress bar.

“Update Problem.
There was a problem installing the update.
Plex Media Server was started from a read-only location. Copy it to the Applications folder on your Mac and run it from there.”

My server app is not in a read-only location and is in fact in the Applications folder.

I’m currently getting the same exact issue.

Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.6
Plex Media server Version 1.18.8.2527
Plex player Version 1.6.3.1009-57cf57c8
I also use the web app.plex.tv

It’s definitely updated successfully before but its only done it this time with the latest update.

I too am experiencing this problem.

I figured out the solution, you have to manually download the latest version of Plex Media Server, then delete the PMS version thats in your applications folder, then just replace it with the new version you downloaded and your done. Kinda dumb but it works and I confirmed that it I’m up to date now.

That seems to work for now, but I won’t truly know until there is another update that works correctly without having to do it manually. But thanks for the obvious solution that I should have tried. I did at least make sure that my computer was turned on.
