Update to 1.18.6.2368 on QNAP and no server not responding

Server Version#:1.18.6.2368

I saw the notice to update today and did so on my QNAP running OS ver 4.4.1.1216. Imediately after the update my Plex Server was no longer visible to any of my players. I tried to revert back to 1.18.6.2368 (which had functioned without issue) without success.

I deleted the Plex server install in favor of a fresh install of 1.18.6.2368 but without any success. Server is still not visible and it is not responding through the assigned port.

After seeking the latest ver from the plex web site I was presented with ver 1.18.7.2415. I deleted the previous install and installed this ver but no change in the response. The server is still not visible nor reachable. I am unable to even reach the Plex server to initiate the new install configuration or even log in.

The current log file is attached
Plex Media Server.log (113.4 KB)

Please capture the logs again. PMS had not completed initial first-run setup in before the bottom of the first log you sent.

I restarted PMS and here is the new log file.
Plex Media Server.log (2.1 KB)

Stop PMS.
Now wait a couple minutes.
Then let’s try again.
start it.
Wait 60+ seconds for it to get up and running.
You can see the processes in the Resource Monitor.

What you presented me shows PMS hadn’t been stopped long enough . Linux still had the ports locked.

You can check this yourself. If you see a “bind” error which is “Already in use” it means it didn’t shutdown long enough. It will be right at the bottom of a very short log file.

Thanks ChuckPa for the assistance.

Even with a shutdown of the PMS, rebooting the NAS and waiting more than an hour before restart of PMS, I was unable to get a good start and the log file always terminated with a “bind” error which is “Already in use”.

I completely removed PMS from the QNAP, rebooted the NAS and then started with the standard PMS install in the QNAP store. This installed a working version of PMS and then I was able to upgrade this to 1.18.7.2415. This appears to have fixed whatever issue was preventing the PMS from starting correctly. The only failure with this method was the complete loss of my viewing history. A small price now that it is back up and running.
