Upgrade to latest PMS despite privacy settings?

Still running 1.9.x so I can leave the “send data” checkbox uncheck in server settings. Is this pointless amd should I upgrade my server since all the privacy settings are (annoyingly) set at the client level now?

Same here. Still stuck at 1.9.0, from what I hear it’s pretty much pointless since all other devices like clients adhere to the new privacy policy and this toggle only works for PMS itself.

I tried figuring out if the new privacy policy settings that are somewhat hidden away online are comparable to the old PMS setting but it’s not really clear, only that both don’t conform to the GDPR at all which, for me, is an issue.

Any Plex staff have better insight?

This is not correct.
The setting works at the Plex account level now.

You set it once, and all servers and clients which are signed into your account will follow the preference. This includes clients of your ‘managed’ users as well.

Correct, which means it’s at the client level since all of my users are ‘Friends’ and not added as managed users.

No, it’s at the account level, because your users can each have several clients.

Gotcha. I was using ‘clients’ meaining accounts.
