Media plays perfectly fine from http://myinternalIP:32400/, but NOTHING will play on my fireTV or android phone. Keep getting the same error: Unable to play media.
Of course, this was working before I upgraded to DSM7. Please help.
For what it’s worth, I rebooted the firetv again and files appear to be working. They’re now only failing on the Android phone. Plex Media Server Logs_2021-08-15_00-08-41.zip (352.5 KB)
You’re right about the NAS not able to transcode - I am familiar with that issue. I’ve reencoded these files though so there shouldn’t be any conversions. The FireTV plays the files, I would assume the phone has the same architecture and can play the files the same.
Not a huge issue, playing on the FireTV is far more important than the phone. I’m going to test a few more on the TV anyway.
Also, you’re terrific, thanks for helping so quickly. I really didn’t expect a reply tonight.
Got it, thank you. Like I said, the TV is far more important and I was using my phone to test because it was easier to fool around with.
I’ve never used handbrake, I’ll check that out. I’ve always used VLC to reenconde files.
So I played with it some more and adjusted the quality so it’s not trying to transcode on the android. I also continued to test on the tv and everything was perfect. Looks like it’s working.
I was way off base on this one - it’s almost always a quality issue when this comes up and I falsely assumed it was due to the upgrade.
