Upgrading the library won't work

Server Version#: 1.24.1.4931
Player Version#: web

I’m being told in Plex home that I should upgrade my movie libraries to make use of the new Plex Movie Agent. But when I click the upgrade I get an error message " There was a problem upgrading the library." But no more information. I have tried rebooting the server, but it still doesn’t work. Any idea how to fix this?

I have the same issue. What can be the problem?

Me too. Tried everything. Poor error message and no details anywhere online.

It should either just work or provide enough information to solve.

Also having the same issue - using Plex server via WD MyCloud Home.

Same issue, also using WD My Cloud Home.

Also the same here - using Plex on WD My Cloud Home. Although it reports a ‘problem upgrading the library’, it still manages to delete all the metadata afterwards and is busy reloading everything now. Whether it’s using the alleged new ‘agent’ or not is impossible to tell.

Same issue using Nvidia Shield with files on my Synology NAS.

I have this same setup and I have the same problem.

I’m having the same issue, also using WD My Cloud!

Just adding to the chorus. Also a MyCloud Home. Sounds like we have a trend here. An issue with their deployment of Plex perhaps?

Looking at console, the only warning/error generated is:

Same issue here - WD My Cloud Home

My WD My Cloud Home is giving me the same error. I don’t know how to fix this

My cloud home plex is giving all sorts of issues. won’t upgrade libraries won’t play on fire stick devices and there is no way to update it.

Running Version 1.19.1.2645 on Fedora 33 getting the same pop-up box need to know more on what the error is relating to.

Had the same issue. Fixed it like this:
Sign in to the plex server. Dont user webinterface from another PC.
Restart chrome
Apply latest update from upper right corner
Apply library upgrade from SAME place as you just upgraded to latest version

This is why those running customer hardware like My Cloud Home or Nvidia cant get it working. There is no direct interface. Web is the only way.

Hi, Home Cloud user here…

Looking at the request, this is the Request URL:
https://192-168-0-163.fe000000000000000000000000000000.plex.direct:32400/library/sections/3?agent=tv.plex.agents.movie&scanner=Plex%20Movie&X-Plex-Product=Plex%20Web&X-Plex-Version=4.64.3&X-Plex-Client-Identifier=9638exxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx&X-Plex-Platform=Chrome&X-Plex-Platform-Version=93.0&X-Plex-Sync-Version=2&X-Plex-Features=external-media%2Cindirect-media&X-Plex-Model=hosted&X-Plex-Device=Windows&X-Plex-Device-Name=Chrome&X-Plex-Device-Screen-Resolution=1920x977%2C1920x1080&X-Plex-Token=1y7xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx&X-Plex-Language=en

Getting this response:

<html><head><title>Bad Request</title></head><body><h1>400 Bad Request</h1></body></html>'agent' is missing or invalid

The agent parameter is clearly in the request URL.

This Plex function is broken.
