using plex pass - internet access is down - can't use my own local server

I’ve seen a number of answers but most revolve around “don’t use Plex Home” - I don’t (or at least, I dont think I do). I have only 1 user on the plex server. My Rasplex client is manually told the local server address, and it still will not connect to the server - I can kind of get the web interface to talk to the server, but that doesn’t last long before it says “can’t access server”.
I need a definitive answer about how I am able to use plex when the internet goes down, because not being able to is unacceptable - I would never have gotten a Plex Pass and plex.tv login if I thought this would be the result.

Same question. Please answer.

Have you tried logging out of Plex in Rasplex preferences?

Also worth setting Secure Connections to disabled in PMS.

I don’t have a problem using Rasplex without an Internet connection, whether signed in or not.

Regards

disabled secure connections. Since I have no internet access, rasplex doesn’t seem to have a way to logout - the menu item is “sign in”, so it clearly thinks it’s logged out. My server is “unclaimed” (that’s a really wierd kind of terminology, I have to say). Local Network Discovery is enabled.

OK - this is really wierd - seems like rasplex issue - I’ve rebooted a number of times - no joy. I went into the “Sign in” screen, then cancelled out of it - then rasplex connected to the server…

There are a few posts about unclaimed servers this is one https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/209351/an-unclaimed-media-server-has-been-found-on-your-network-claim-it-now/p1

Can you raise an issue on GitHub for this one, Issues · RasPlex/RasPlex · GitHub

Glad you’re up and running.

It is important that you:

see https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/203948786-Plex-Home-Security-Changes

Also worth checking is the preference
Settings - Server - Network - ‘Show advanced’ - “List of networks that are allowed without auth”
if you put in a network address + netmask of your own local network, none of your local plex clients needs to authenticate itself.
e.g. if your router has the address 192.168.1.1 then the proper content for this field would be 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0
(is preference is only effectual, when Plex Home is disabled, see above)

all good points - but, list of networks was set, no guest account, no pin set.

It is important what has been set
if it is 127.0.0.1/255.255.255.255, then every client has to authenticate

You should sign in your server. Otherwise you won’t be able to reap the benefits of your Plex Pass.

I do it too. I sign every plex app into my plex.tv account too. And they all cope well with internet outages, (which happen more often for me than I like, so I know this well).
