I’ve tried a couple of versions of server - I’m currently gone back to 1.0.3.2461. I can use plex on IOS and browser, but my LG TV Plex app just asks me to sign in every time, and then can’t find the server. This problem began after installing 1.1.3 I have my LG TV IP (192.168.1.99) set to not req authorisation on the server.
The only way to use Plex currently on the LG TV is to enter the auth code via plex.tv/link then manually enter the IP address of my server (192.168.1.11) as soon as I exit Plex no settings are saved.
The List of IP Addresses and networks that are allowed without auth is intended for legacy plex client apps - like the LG TV Medialink and LG TV Smartshare. It is not needed for the official Plex client app for Smart TVs
As you referring to signing in within the Plex LG TV App and using plex.tv/link then you must be referring to the official plex client app… Is that correct ?
The LG TV Plex app caches information and so there should be no need to re-link the app to plex.tv every use
Could you install Plex Media Server version 1.1.4 - available from plex.tv/downloads
Leave the List of IP Addresses and networks not requiring auth to be blank
Restart the server to get fresh log files created
Ensure the server is signed in to plex.tv within settings / server / general
Take a full screenshot of the server / network settings with show advanced
In case there is a corrupt install, you could delete the Plex for Smart TV app and re-fetch it from the LG Store
Sign in to the plex.tv account that the server is signed in to
When the problem arises where the server is not found, note down the time. If possible, take a photo of the LG TV Plex App
Then find the Plex Media Server log files - they would be named
Plex Media Server.log, Plex Media Server.1.log, … etc with oldest being Plex Media Server.5.log
Re link the app to the server account by going through plex.tv/link
When it happens again - find all the logs again and copy out and zip and note down the time and upload all zipped logs and screenshots here together with details of when the issue arose
