Version 1.1.3.2700

I’ve tried a couple of versions of server - I’m currently gone back to 1.0.3.2461. I can use plex on IOS and browser, but my LG TV Plex app just asks me to sign in every time, and then can’t find the server.

This problem began after installing 1.1.3 I have my LG TV IP (192.168.1.99) set to not req authorisation on the server.

The only way to use Plex currently on the LG TV is to enter the auth code via plex.tv/link then manually enter the IP address of my server (192.168.1.11) as soon as I exit Plex no settings are saved.

The List of IP Addresses and networks that are allowed without auth is intended for legacy plex client apps - like the LG TV Medialink and LG TV Smartshare. It is not needed for the official Plex client app for Smart TVs

As you referring to signing in within the Plex LG TV App and using plex.tv/link then you must be referring to the official plex client app… Is that correct ?

The LG TV Plex app caches information and so there should be no need to re-link the app to plex.tv every use

Could you install Plex Media Server version 1.1.4 - available from plex.tv/downloads
Leave the List of IP Addresses and networks not requiring auth to be blank
Restart the server to get fresh log files created
Ensure the server is signed in to plex.tv within settings / server / general

Take a full screenshot of the server / network settings with show advanced

In case there is a corrupt install, you could delete the Plex for Smart TV app and re-fetch it from the LG Store
Sign in to the plex.tv account that the server is signed in to

When the problem arises where the server is not found, note down the time. If possible, take a photo of the LG TV Plex App
Then find the Plex Media Server log files - they would be named
Plex Media Server.log, Plex Media Server.1.log, … etc with oldest being Plex Media Server.5.log

Re link the app to the server account by going through plex.tv/link

When it happens again - find all the logs again and copy out and zip and note down the time and upload all zipped logs and screenshots here together with details of when the issue arose

OK. Installing 1.1.4 breaks everything. Server is running according to my library PC, but there is no server found via the web client http://127.0.0.1:32400/web/index.html Tried via local host and the static IP of my PC.

Going via http://app.plex.tv/web/app and it does the same thing - it just says “looking for server.”

I can see my browser listed as a device, but I can’t access any server settings. The ipad app can’t find a server, and there’s no media available.

Going back to 1.0.3.2461 by simply uninstalling 1.1.4 and installing 1.0.3. without even rebooting and the web client starts working again - I can view media, I can access server settings. The IOS app can find my media libraries.

If you provide Plex Web client log and Plex Media Server.log for this failure to find the server then we can hopefully see what is going wrong. In almost all cases when the web client failing to find the server via 127.0.0.1 has been due to the server signed in to a different user account from the one the web client is signed in to.
The logs would show that

I cannot see any server signed in to your tasljon account. Do you have other plex.tv accounts?

“I cannot see any server signed in to your tasljon account. Do you have other plex.tv accounts?”

OK with your help I’ve solved the issues. This comment was the lightbulb moment. When checking to answer this question I could see I was signed into the server using a different email address than I was using for my plex account. So top right of web interface - account settings report tasljon as the email, but on the server settings a different email was being used.

Changing the server to use the tasljon email account, and the latest version now works fine.

You may want to update FAQ with that, as unless you downgrade to an earlier version there’s no obvious way to check that. Or require relogon on upgrade perhaps?

I’ve also solved the LG TV issue - reinstalling the app made no difference. A menu item called “Initalise the software” did nothing, but a full factory reset resolved the problem.

Many thanks

Excellent

The logs would show that - a Plex Media Server.log after restart of the server together with the Plex Web drop-down

We are hoping to make server account info in the system tray icon pop-up on windows and equivalent Menu item on Mac, Idea is being discussed internally.

I will look into the FAQs and Troubleshooting info
