I just ripped a couple of seasons of Sanford and Son on DVD and this is what the playback looks like when played through Plex. This does NOT happen if I open and play the MKV file on my PC. I used DVDFab 11 since MakeMKV was taking a huge amount of time just to open up the disc.
Any ideas what is causing this??
Looks like a transcode gone wrong.
Mind sharing some technical details of your file e.g. from MediaInfo or the Plex Get Info (content from View XML > <media>...</media>), and the playback/transcoding information from Now Playing on the Dashboard?
I re-ripped one of the disc’s using MakeMKV and it seems to be working fine. Not exactly sure what is going on with the DVDFab 11 rips. But at least I have it working.
This looks like the transcode bug many people are experiencing.
If you turn off hardware accelerated transcoding does the problem go away?
What version of PMS are you running?
What platform - CPU and OS?
See post below for workaround. Thread is for Synology NAS. Same workaround (delete driver) will apply to other platforms.
You can also fall back to earlier PMS releases. Not sure how far back you’ll have to go. Maybe 1.18.0 or earlier based on other posts I’ve seen. If you happen to be on a Synology NAS, the Package Center has v1.16.5, which does not experience the problem.
