When playing just about any show or movie the video loads into the app but does not start playing. I have to press pause and then play ti get the video to start streaming.
This has been going on since i bought the new Apple TV and installed the plex app.

Just started having this problem too. It started after adding my second HomePod and putting in a stereo pair. Not sure if it is related or a coincidence. I will start a TV series to play and all is fine. It will start the first episode fine will play the credits and count down to the next episode OK. Plex will then start the next episode but then stop at 00:00 and will not go any further until the play/pause button is pressed. Plex will then do this on all subsequent episodes.
Included is a log where his is duplicated. The play/pause to continue to play next episode on 4/20 11:20am PDT.
I have been having the same problem as well as some movies having audio drop out. This post seems to have solved both issues for me - seems to me it’s to do with the Homepod audio output as opposed to using TV speakers.
Enable “use old audio engine” in the Plex App settings on the ATV and see how you go.
