I've had Plex for Xbox One since day one. I can see my library and attempt to play videos, but I just get a black screen. I'm very disappointed by this; I've installed every update to my plex server, deleted the application on the xbox, deleted the device from my plex devices, and deleted the xbox one xml profile file. I don't know what else to do to get this to work. My last forum post from quite awhile ago now didn't help me resolve the issue at all.
Sorry you're having trouble.
What type of server and what version of the server are you using? Can you post a Plex Media Server.log file of when you are attempting to play one of these files so we can see what is happening?

I think I sort of figured this out, but not sure why it’s not working as advertised. Most of my movies are encoded with a primary audio stream of DTS. Plex on Xbox One seems to have no option to change audio streams (even the new version). My Dolby Digital movies seem to play fine. I read that Plex was supposed to transcode the DTS streams to DD when playing on the Xbox One. That does not appera to be working. I get a playback failure. I haven’t tested this, but could this because the don’t transcode mkv is now the default setting? I have an Ubuntu server and the latest Plex Pass Plex server running. I can attempt to get logs and more info later today.
@miklnk Could you provide a sample file so we can investigate? There’s a guide on how to create a sample file here https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201035968-Generating-Sample-Files-from-Media
Miklnk, to change the audio stream, once a movie starts playing, hit the A button, then scroll over to the … on the menu… click on that and you’ll see the area to change the audio stream.
Problem is that a file with DTS won’t play at all. No chance to change the stream.
I’m getting this error when I try to make a clip: /usr/lib/plexmediaserver/Resources/Plex New Transcoder: error while loading shared libraries: libiconv.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I think I got the sample file to work.
I think I finally got a much shorter sample to work.
Thanks for the sample file! To confirm, you’ve verified this newly created sample file fails to play back on your Xbox One?
That’s correct, it doesn’t play. I can make it play by changing the audio stream on the web interface to AC3 first though.
@miklnk What are you running your server on?
Ubuntu 14.04
Intel® Core™ i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz × 8
3.13 GB of RAM
No answers?
@miklnk We’re still investigating all playback issues reported but I don’t have anything specific to report yet about your particular issue yet, sorry.
@moussa.uk Ok then. I don’t know why it doesn’t work for sure.
I guess that was never resolved.
You never posted the log file when you try and play your file.
Testing your sample file on my Ubuntu Machine when you first posted it and again tonight on the most recent version of the server the file still works normally for me. So it’s hard to troubleshoot when we don’t have the logs and can’t reliably reproduce it.
I’d love to get to the bottom of this, but It’s so confusing trying to find the right logs and I have other devices that play all my media just fine. I’m not living or dying by the xbox one.
