I’ve been having this issue only on my FireTV and Android phone however my iOS devices do not exhibit this behavior. I thought it may be a quality setting in a media profile from years back that has lingered but I don’t think that seems to be the case since so many people are having the same issue.
I am patiently awaiting a fix for this as it is really annoying to press play and put the remote down walk away to watch from afar (I can see my TV from kitchen) and to have to go back and get the remote.
Just adding my name to the list of everyone else that is experiencing this problem. This issue only appears on my Sony Android TV (XBR65850D) over wifi. No problem on the web client, roku stick, or android phone, or any of my friends, so problem is definitely not from my network or server. Issue seems to have appeared in version 6, and persists to version 7, as the last version 5 release doesn’t have this problem.
I’m also having this issue. Mostly it just stops the current episode and skips to the next episode screen, but lately there is also the case of the screen just freezing and then the player software (Android Fire TV Stick 4K in my case) just stops and restarts itself.
Transcoding is turned off, Server is on Windows 10 Pro with local files.
It looks like that problem is solved for my configuration.
I use plex server on synology and after the last update (1.14.0.5470) the problem with skipping after a second is no more happening
