Same issue here. Amazon Firestick. Connected WiFi. My server stores the files locally and is hard wired in to the wireless router that the firestick is connected to.
Server and app are on latest versions.
Same issue happening for some time. Usually just the first time I play a video when launching the app. Video plays for a second and then skips to the end as if it finished.
Same exact issues here. The most consistent of the two is the starting of a movie or episode after the server has effectively gone cold from not being used for a few hours.
It spins a few times then I back out, try again and it instant starts. This is so common that my wife and I just inherently treat the process as normal.
Server is an Intel nuc running nutanix virtualization and Ubuntu mate for the operating environment. Media storage is a remote NAS. All clients are 4k fire the clients connected either wired or over 5ghz witeless with excellent signal.
Please make this a priority. The clear and consistent correlation here is the Android based clients.
Same problem here. I found that turning off transcoding solves the problem for me. Set to only play at original quality and things start and keep playing.
It happens to me always when I 1st launch the Plex app after the TV has been off for a while. That being said it does happen randomly worth some content.
I feel like it is just a buffering issue on the client side⦠But there are no options to increase it
Happening to me on my Sony x900f Android TV, wired into the network. Almost always happens the first time I try playing content each day, but then works flawlessly the rest of the night.
Just bumping this to say that this is 100% of the time for me. Both issues mentioned here - the skip to the end and reply/next vid immediately upon starting, as well as the have to back out and hit play again nearly every time we play a video. My fiance has come to hate using Plex because of these (among other) bugsā¦she equates Plex with crappiness. I am a coder and know how difficult these tricky bugs are sometimes to track down and fix, but this has been happening for me for at least 6-9 months, so itās def not a new issue.
Everytime there is an update I cross my fingers and hope itās fixed the next time I start a video. Iāve actually given up on that dream. Now I will forever assume itās not fixed, so I can be pleasantly surprised, rather than the reverseā¦
Sony Android TV, Win 10 Media Server if that mattersā¦
Since the last server update, this has gotten worse for me⦠My wife is starting to have a large problem with using Plex now⦠Itās almost every show we watch has had this happenā¦
Same problem on my Sony Android TV. Playback starts and immediately stops. If watching a show or playlist when this happens, plex stops and displays the next episode. Going back to and pressing play again and all works fine until the next time the tv is turned on.
This occurs for me as well and has been for some time, itās beyond irritating.
One thing I have observed is forcing transcoding as opposed to Direct Play, appears to definitely help with the issue, some videos otherwise appear to be persistently plagued with this issue more than others.
Not surprised, I feel like it is a buffering issue on the local client⦠If you transcode I bet the client waits a bit more before starting (fills the buffer). If you do direct play I bet it starts as soon as it gets content, but since the networks isnāt fast enough or the app hasnāt initialized some internal function yet (to process something), the buffer is then empty. Then on the next attempt the client is ready for the contentā¦
This is purely my speculation with no a single thread of input from Plex . But boy oh boy would I love to have this issue fixed!
Same issue. Every time I restart my Nvidia shield and play a video it plays less than a second then stops. It will then play normally until I restart the device.
