Vote to roll back to Plex Classic!

Yes. Please give us the Classic interface.

Classic should be available AT LEAST until the new app has every feature the old one did. I haven’t seen a single mention they’re even working to restore play queue functionality. Shuffling a playlist then reordering or removing parts of the queue I don’t like was something I did daily and want back more than any other missing feature.

Why are we having to beg for the old version back? Just upload it as a separate app and leave it at that.

Glad to see I’m not the only one that hates this redesigned interface . I’m already in the process of evaluating competing systems and while I really dislike the thought of abandoning my lifetime plex license, I just cannot deal with the clunky inefficient interface and the lag in performance on my Roku ultra devices.

Jellyfin has scratched my itch, Plex hasn’t been opened in days. If you’re using anything for music though there may be a gap for your use case.
Hoping that Plex removes the downgrade - there has to be data to show how much their app has been opened before and after the downgrade that was pushed.

So in the meantime I totally forgot I have a Google TV:). I use Roku religiously because of the Plex developers on that platform. But unfortunately I’m going to jump ship to Android for now so I can use the tried and true interface. Temporary fix until they mess that up or listen to the community. Guys and girls keep voting and let your voice be heard!

By the way they clearly know that people don’t like this new interface, that’s why they haven’t done a public release on the other platforms. Plex why choose Roku to be your guinea pig?

Yes PLEASE!! My father is 80 years old, my mother 79 and Plex is one of the few ways he can watch things from my PC. He’s in Tennessee, I’m in Canada. Their quality of life has went down quite a bit because he simply can’t use or easily navigate the new UI. God forbid I change or redo my OS and he has to realign with the new setup. It was bad enough that the old accounts were impossible to remove and he would always click on the old version that didn’t exist, but now… I don’t even remotely know what to tell him if that were a current problem, much less navigate and actually be able to WATCH it. Please give us the option for the old UI to go back to.

Hopefully we can get to 500 in the next week! Has anyone noticed that no one from plex is responding to any of the feedback? Yes this is kind of normal, but they’ve been extra quiet lately.

PLEX - roll it back. Give us back the working, usable interface we had before you engaged in this self-humiliating debacle. Myself, my family, and my friends have used Plex since very near its inception. All of us singing Plex’s praises and recommending it to scores of others along the way.

We don’t do that anymore.

Now we lament how it is unusable.

Now we tell people not to bother even looking at it.

Now we tell people to delete it if they have it.

Now we tell people it is absolutely NOT worth spending a single penny on - let alone pay a monthly subscription fee for.

This level of customer dissatisfaction is how you kill a company. If that was your goal, congratulations, you’ve succeeded.

Sincerely,

Disillusioned, Disappointed, and Dissatisfied

iOS/Android were the fist to get the new UI but Roku had a MUCH larger user base. We did try to get them to pump the brakes when the mobile release dropped back in like April but they told us to pound sand.

Last I heard, Plex said they have no plans to go back. Sunk cost fallacy.

I just got this horrendous update on my roku tv. The TV app does not need 2/3 of the screen as a preview of the item that I put on my server, one row to select things, and libraries hidden away. This is like some one went how did Youtube and HBO make their apps worse in the last year and did that but triple.

Please put the classic UI back. Hopefully the old one from 2019-2020 but if not that then the one from 2 months ago is the way to go before it is too late to put it back.

I kind of like the new UI, but my native language (Dutch) isn’t supported anymore. That’s not an issue for me, but several of my family members aren’t very comfortable with English.

It’s not remotely realistic that they’ll go back, given their aim is to reduce the work needed to support a million devices. But the new interface has some major issues that still need resolving and the actual playback is beyond horse manure levels of bad. It doesn’t even properly track playback position. Skipping the intro might skip the intro or it might just skip to a random spot 10 minutes in. Dragging the playback bar to a specific point is effectively pointless. It’s not that they changed the app that aggravates me, it’s that they did such an awful job of the new one. Get the actual core functionality - playback - working properly and I’ll forgive the crappy interface. Right now, though, it neither looks great nor works great and that’s just unforgivable.

the new UI is so bad. i really hope that the team responsible understands they’re TERRIBLE designers and need to go back to design school.

Plex went from being Winamp in simplicity and efficiency to iTunes in complicated navigation and bloated for no reason in just one update.

pathetic!

I might be barking up the wrong tree here, but honestly I can’t see how the GUI could in any way have affected Intro Skipping which is a server based item for detection. There have been a few series lately I’ve noticed issues with but the very same issue in what it has detected as the intro will be just as visible on any interface or app used. So I’m assuming it is the detection and server side that needs some work.

I’ve seen zero impact on playback with my Roku TVs. I ran both this new GUI when it was in Beta and the old app concurrently and would switch between them frequently to see if I could find faults. The only difference I’ve ever found is it starts loading / playing a little slower. But, that could also have to do with how the app (and device) is caching download and whether the device needs to free up cache. Once playing I don’t see any difference at all. I’d be curious though whether this new GUI requires a higher RAM usage than the prior app.

I 100% agree with this. Plus it is entirely unrealistic to expect there to be effectively a doubling of workload as the demand would require 2 apps to be maintained for every device type. I’d rather the devs devote their time to real issues experienced by people.

No one is expecting them to double their workload - we’re demanding they revert the downgrade that was pushed and give back the old application that worked.

You’d think basic stuff like playback would be handled properly but it just isn’t. I’ve had to pretty much stop using Plex on my phone because of how bad it is. But ALL skipping is almost random. Not just Skip Intro. There’s some kind of bug that makes it fundamentally broken for me. Skip Intro works perfectly fine on the web app. No issues there at all. But on iOS it’s anybody’s guess where the skip will take me.

Glad you have no issues on your Roku. I am jealous, tbh. All I have is issues. It’s moved from frustrating to tedious by this point.

New interface is beyond trash. They should flog then fire whoever thought it was a good idea

I joined the community just to vote on this, the app is terrible on roku. I’ll be wanting a refund on my lifetime sub if this is the quality plex is putting out.
