Server Version#:Windows 7 last version
Player Version#: tablets , cell phones ,firestick
My home server is on Xfinity 800/20 meg down & up load.
When I stream on the net it only plays 240 grainy with out studder.
My vacation home just got Fiber 1000/1000 fastest package i can get. Using new 4K Firestick on wifi 6 aka AX wifi and it only plays 240 speed grainy.
So now after reading more about ISP THROTTLING
How do I know they are doing that to me and isnt that illegal ? False advertising like the B.S. cell phone providers do until you read the fine print on data cap ![]()
Two documents to review:
Let's start with some basic troubleshooting.
First, have you disabled Xfinity Advanced Security at your home? It can interfere with Plex remote access. See Troubleshooting Remote Access → Common Problems.
Second, what is displayed on the Plex Remote Access settings page?
- Does it say “Fully Accessible Outside Your Network”?
- If you’ve not done so, set
Internet upload speedto 20 Mbps, andLimit remote stream bitrateto 20 Mbps or less.
Third, stream something remotely (phone on mobile net, etc), and monitor the system with Plex Dashboard → Now Playing + Expanded View.
Is the stream shown as local, remote, or indirect? It should be remote.
If indirect, it means remote access is not working correctly, and you’re connecting via Plex Relay, which is limited to 2 Mbps.
Fourth, check the Plex client settings. Many Plex apps have remote streaming limited to 2 Mbps. You’ll need to go into the app settings and increase it.
Well I own all the equipment modem is Arris SB8200 docsis 3.1 router Asus RT-AX82U fixed IP address for sever at home no problem streaming local 4K.
I have used all the recommended settings using Cell towers and internet at my other locations and they all buffer severely. Unless I make it 240p rate and plays no problem. I read the 2 links nothing new popped up.
I do get the connection is not fast enough !
P.S. speed test on tablet is 150 meg up and down
Thanks for the info.
Have you configured port forwarding in the Asus router?

No i used Plex port forwarding I downloaded Plex Dash the results
Bitrate 2 meg h.264 MP4
Remote stream 20 meg or less
Sever graph 2,3 meg bandwidth
Processor 60%
Memory 10%
Using my smartphone Plex Dash watching Plex on tablet get the same on Firestick
It shows I have full access
Guess cant make changes on sever till i get home
You are most likely connecting via Plex Relay.
You will need to make Plex Media Server and router configuration changes when you return home.
