Was Available outside my network Now is Unavailable outside my network

Server Version#: 1.17.0.1841
Player Version#:

As of this past Friday I was able to access the server both on and off my network. There have been two updates pushed through to my machine since then. Now I cannot access it off of my network.

I have checked the plex data folder and there is no updates subfolder to use for a rollback. I just don’t know what to do.

Help???

see Remote Access recently

Okay, so my IP is the same but canyouseeme.org isn’t able to connect…I have no idea how to fix that . . .

Stop your Plex server
Restart it
Wait 2 minutes
repeat the test with canyouseeme.org

Is it any different now?

So canyouseeme.org still is unable to see my machine.

Will be out of town today so responses to any further assistance will be 10 or 12 hours from now. and Thanks

Then you’ll have to create a manual port forwarding in the settings of your router.
I hope you only have one of this type of devices in your network?

https://support.plex.tv/articles/200931138-troubleshooting-remote-access/

So in my router when I look at Virtual Servers/Port Forwarding these are the fields I have to work with:

Description: <Name or w/e>
Inbound Port: ___ to ___
Format: <drop down menu with TCP, UDP, BOTH>
Private IP Address: 0.0.0.0 <obs this would be my local address??>
Local Port: ___ to ___

I’ve tried a couple of different configurations of ports and IP and I can’t seem to get it to work so I’m obviously doing something wrong.

Thanks again for all the help…

I assume it should be something like

Description: Plex
Inbound Port: 32400 to ___
Format: TCP
Private IP Address: the local IP of your plex server device (make sure it is fix)
Local Port: 32400 to ___

After doing this, restart the router.
Then wait a few minutes.
Then go into the Plex web app to
Settings - Server - Remote Access
and tick the checkbox “Manually specify public port”
put in the 32400 behind it
‘Save Changes’
Wait again a few minutes.
Then stop and restart Plex Server.
Wait again.
Check with canyouseeme.org again.

So would that be 32400 to 80? on both of those? Or am i missing something?

Depending on your router model, it could be just
32400 to nothing
or
32400 to 32400

i.e. only one port is needed, not a “range”

router is an Arris. I looked at their page and it wasn’t very helpful . . . so I’ve been playing with ranges. I’ll try it this way.

I get the error that port numbers must be greater than zero … . I’ll keep trying to trudge through their page.

Then use
32400 to 32400

Still reading as not available outside of my network. I’ve been running this server for a few years now…the only time I had any trouble like this was when I was first setting it up…

Ignore that for now. Use canyouseeme.org instead.

Still can’t see it on canyouseeme.

Can you access your server from inside your home network?
If not, check the status of the network connection in Windows. It must be set to ‘private’, not ‘public’.

So That seems to be at least part of the problem. I am set to public. I’ve looked at the walk-troughs to switch it to private, but I don’t have the options they’re discussing. I’m trying to figure that out now.

So I think I have it figured out, thanks to your help and the help of a local buddy.

It was Private v Public network. I was looking at the screens windows gave me and thought something was a header but it was clickable. canyouseeme can now see my port 32400. I can access the server in home. I just need someone to test it out of home.

none of my users are available so I’m sort of stuck waiting for now.
