Server Version#:1.23.5
Just today I set up a server on my pc in order to watch a TV Show with my friend. Everything was working fine. I can watch the show in the web app and on my phone, even when not connected to the same network. I had my friend sign up to Plex, sent her a friend invite and shared libraries. After accepting I invited her to watch together. She can see the invite but no matter what she does she cannot connect. It either says “Can’t access this element. The server is unreachable” or just doesn’t connect at all. It’s incredibly frustrating and I wish it could just work. I even tried to set up port forwarding despite not knowing anything about that. It seemed to work but still nothing. Remote access also just can’t work normally and keeps disconnecting. Funny, how even though remote access says it’s unavailable from outside my network, I can still access it on my phone. I don’t know what the issue is and it’s annoying.
the server saying it is fully accessible or not means that plex.tv can ping it or not. PLex…tv basically acts as a phone book.
if you have a client that could previously connect then it does not need plex.tv to tell it where it is. like if you already know a friends phone number you don’t need a phone book.
If you can tell us about your network set up, equipment, ISP, etc someone can probably guide you through setting up port forwarding. (though not all routers are the same)
I use a wired connection to my router from my PC. The router is a Huawei 4G Router 3 Pro B535-232 and it uses 4G to connect. My ISP is Orange. I tried everything with port forwarding, static IPs and what not. The only thing that would help would probably be a live screen-sharing session with a pro.
