Watched Checkmark VS Unwatched Orange Corner

100%. They have avoided almost every direct question on the topic. In that fireside thread they are diligently replying to literally everyone’s comments, except for my in-depth description of why we want unwatched flags back.

It’s actually impressive to post several official comments in this thread and not actually address the issue.

Literally no one could have been wanting “watched indicators on or off” as the only setting to fix this issue, that’s just an awful workaround especially needed when the checkmarks were uglier.

Who marked this as solved, OP or @PlexInfo?

It’s clearly not a discussion they are allowed to engage in publicly. plex marked it as solved because this is a decision they’ve made purposefully (probably by some high level manager who doesn’t actually use plex), and they aren’t going to give us the option.

How do you explain that this issue only exists on Apple TV. It does not make sense what you just said.
I don’t have it on iOS or windows browser.
Don’t own android but I did not hear about it for androids.

Looks like Apple TV conspiracy and discrimination. Singling out.

@aabra1965 what is the issue you’re seeing on Apple TV? All clients should be behaving the same. Could you provide an example? Depending on the issue I may move this conversation to its own thread.

it’s not just apple tv, you can look through this thread for people on other platforms complaining about it too. I can personally say the web client and ios app both work the same way.

I’m confused. I used to see the orange/green indicator, but all I see now for viewed items is a small white checkmark on a dark gray square. I see that on Android and Linux. Unviewed items is just the plain poster.

Am I missing something?

you’re not missing anything, that’s how Plex intends the markers to work now. In this thread we are just asking for the option to see them as they used to be, with the unwatched flags.

Got it. Thanks

THE SOLUTION DOESN’T WORK FOR ME!
This topic has NOT been solved!

As a developer myself, I just don’t understand why in the world the decision makers are acting the way that they are acting, or not acting. This is not a difficult task. To display the orange triangle, as it was before, should be a quick, straight forward, easy task that could be implemented quickly.

Why not give the users what they want? As far as I know, there was never anyone complaining about not being able to see a watched checkmark. Now users are upset about not being able to see the unwatched orange triangle in the corner and they are obviously refusing to put the unwatched orange triangle back in. If they were willing to put the unwatched orange triangle back in, they would have given us that option instead of this ridiculous option to just not show watched icons.

The user’s voice is not going to go away! We want the unwatched orange triangle back! PLEASE!

I hate to admit this, but when people don’t understand words, they still do understand numbers. Boycott seems to be the next step to make them understand that it is time to start paying attention.

i am going to try Jellyfin Server and Swiftfin for Apple TV

I don’t like the change either but boycotting a company because of a checkmark is a bit over the top. Besides that jellyfin has lots of issues and glacial development speed, it’s like 5-10 years behind plex and not gaining. You won’t be any happier there.

due to some long-standing playback issues on apple tv i am now bouncing between plex and Infuse (which still does display unwatched flags and plays all videos perfectly). unfortunately it’s also missing a lot of other UI features so it can’t be a full time replacement yet.

Are you still seeing an issue on your Apple TV? What is it? Could you provide an example?

Barely noticeable checkmark in the corner of the cover image.
Nice old yellow dots are gone.
I guess I did not even notice it before. That is how invisible it is.
I have to buy a microscope now.
Most Apps are trying to get better overtime. Plex is looking for ways to became worse and unusable.
Why can’t you get the old orange dots back.
or at least make it like on IOS version of Plex.

That’s not the fix… That is the problem… Plex is just bending the users over and not even buying us dinner first…

Come on Plex… Put it back already… Clearly the people have spoken and want their orange triangles back… Also while we are at it… Can you remove Trending from the UI… Who gives a flying F what others are watching…

Go to Settings - Online Media Sources, disable DISCOVER SOURCE, and this will remove Trending, Activity, Find Friends, and My Profile from the home screen.

I have it disabled and it still shows on my devices…

What versions are your server and player? There used to be a bug where disabling it wouldn’t make it disappear, but they should have fixed it by now. I tested it on my end and didn’t encounter any issues.
