I am new to plex. Just purchased a WD MCLOUD NAS and had installed the Plex server app on the device. I have also downloaded and installed the Plex server / player software for Mac . I can view all the Plex content ( movies etc ) but cannot download any of the content such as movies or tv programmes to my server - the WD MYCLOUD NAS. I have liked on the three dots at the Sid eof the programme/movie and although there are various options to tag / pin / watch / unwatch etc there is no download option.
There’s no option to download content from any of the online media sources such as Plex’ video-on-demand or live-tv streaming (iirc this is due to licensing restrictions). The Plex for Mac desktop app as well as the iOS/Android mobile Plex apps support downloading media from your personal libraries if you set any of those up.
that’s the blog post introducing the switch from Plex’ old Mobile Sync to the new Download feature – both are available for media on a personal Plex Media Server, not media from the online media sources.
