I have the exact same Server Version and Player Version, and the exact same problem. I started getting this issue five days ago and I can only temporarily fix it by uninstalling and reinstalling.

I am having the same issue. Started about 5 days ago when the free streaming movies were added. One tip is you can remove the xbox from your devices in the settings from your PC. Then you just have to login on the xbox instead of redownloading. Hoping for a real fix soon.

I am having same issue, started this morning but on PS4 help pleeaaassee

I am in the same boat as @neilgw_lineone_net. Using PS4. Was going to write my own thread but found this while getting started.

Plex Server Version 1.18.2.2058

I am using the PS4 Plex App and I get “We were unable to load your Plex Home settings.” I can “Try again” 50 times and get the same error. If I select Continue, I get a black screen that never refreshes, and I can’t close it unless I hard close the app (Hold PS4 Button and Close App).

Uninstall reinstall, works fine until the app goes into “sleep” mode and I come back to restart whatever I was watching, or the app is closed or PS4 turned off. Getting very frustrating.

Same her but On Xbox app. Very frustrating. Just started this week.

Came on here searching for the resolution to this problem and looks like I’m not the only one having it.

Has anyone found any other fixes other than uninstalling and reinstalling?

@antbates suggests going into the server app on whatever you have hosting your server, go into your settings > Authorized Devices > and remove the device you’re trying to play from. Then re-linking the device. All it really does is remove the need to uninstall and reinstall the app. Not a fix by any means, and not a huge time saver, but better than nothing at all.

I’m having the same problem and running the same versions as spicybanana.

Today I found this was related to having a pin code on my account. If I remove the pin code, the plex app opens on my xbox and goes to my home screen okay. If I re-add the pin code on my account, the problem comes back.

@sa2000, can you please get someone on this problem?

@matt02, How do you remove the pin code?!

Edit – Nevermind, figured out how to remove the pin, and yes, that fixes the issue! At least temporarily until an actual fix is found. So to everyone trying to figure it out, a temporary fix is to remove the pin code from your plex login.

This works - but have to relink the logged in device everytime - even when it snoozes!

Hmm, I don’t know. It’s working perfectly fine for me once I remove the pin code from the account on the server. Didn’t have to relink anything. Tried closing the app and going back into it multiple times, including letting it go into snooze mode and starting it back up. It just works like it should. I mean, besides the whole not having a pin code to keep kids out of movies they shouldn’t have access to of course.

The problem is that it shouldn’t even have issues with a pin, and that it started once these free movies were added. Devs need to fix this or revert the changes as it is utterly frustrating and not working as intended.

Oh, I totally agree with you. The issue needs to be fixed, but was just making sure people knew about the temporary work-around to end the frustrations of having to reinstall and relink the app every single time someone wanted to use it. Overall though, the app is not working as intended and needs to be fixed.

this also just started on PS4 a few days ago. Plex hasnt responded at all to anything.

@MattyAndAnnika I spoke to a Plex representative about it also being on PS4, and he or she updated the tags and topic for this thread and I believe even the title of the post, but now I can’t remember what it was originally when I found it. The representative also stated that they are aware of the issue and are looking into what is causing it.

thanks my friend, so sad that Plex hasnt responded to our tickets once this year however someone could reach them so quickly. We’re looking into alternative as Plex has been an epic failure all year with no fixes. thanks again to you.

spicybanana is right thats when the problem started when the free movie crap was added.
