Player Version#: 4.15.2
Seems there was a new update 9. Dec. And now I only get this error when starting the app on my Samsung TV: “We were unable to load your Plex Home settings”
I saw someone posted this on xbox as well, so the issue may be bigger than just Samsung TVs!!
I’ve been having the exact same issue on my samsung smart tv as well after the update. I’ll be doing some testing between adulting and see if I can come up with a solution or at least more details.
Same here, on two Samsung TVs. Re-linking the account works once, but as soon as I close the app and start it up again, it goes back to “We were unable to load your Plex home settings.
Here is what worked for me.
Unlink the TV
Re-link
Put in the PIN
Go to settings and check “auto sign-in”
I saw someone in the xbox thread claim going into your server settings and removing pin from user will remove the problem. Of course it’s not a solution, we need the pin. But a workaround until plex fix this issue. I haven’t tried it myself yet.
Hover over your username in the list and click “Edit pin” to the right of your username. Input your old pin, then instead of inputting a new pin, click “Remove” in the lower left corner.
I’m having same problem after last update, I have to uninstall and install again every time I need to run Plex on my Samsung TV.
I yet to test remove the pin option and see if it works.
It appears that all of you have a PIN on your account,
but no other users in your Plex Home.
Which makes the PIN redundant.
Try removing the PIN
or
add a user account to your Plex Home (activating the Guest account is the quickest way to do that)
and see if that changes anything.
I am not saying that this is a fix. But it’ll help tremendously with finding the bug, if you can confirm this suspicion.
@OttoKerner If I remove the pin my kids can turn on the TV and open the plex app and get full/adminstrator user access to my plex server. So the pin is a must have.
I have read somewhere else that someone suggested adding a 2nd home account with pin, and that will work. I’m at work, so not able to test anything atm.
Unless you have enabled the ‘delete’ feature, there is not that much they can mess up from a TV device. All the really dangerous features are only available in the web app.
Even a user account without a PIN could work. Which I’d recommend to create anyway for the kids.
Because you can restrict it, so they only see items which are halfway suitable for their age.
@OttoKerner my kids are young, and thus I don’t want them to have access to my content. But of course I want at the same time to put on something I know to be suitable for them myself. So the pin is an absolute must to protect them and at the same time serve my needs. I will experiment with additional users when I come home. The danger is them viewing something they shouldn’t.
Thanks for the tip. Removing the pin from my account worked and the Plex app my Samsung TV is working again. I would like to re-enable to pin though. I hope it is fixed soon.
Ho great !! I am suffering supperssing/reinstalling Plex on my tv since the Sad Day (december 9th, never forget it) but the non-PIN situation seems to work… Mr Samsung Plex please we need a way to receve infos on bugs like this one from the app itself, not everybody is able to send rescue party to find infos on forums you know…
