I recently changed my home Wi-Fi router. After getting all devices signed into the new router, the Plex App on my Apple TV and iPhone have no problem seeing my media from the Synology NAS Plex Server app. But, my laptop web app doesn’t see the media from the NAS. When I click on + Your Media I am only given the option of downloading the server or Mac Plex App. This doesn’t help. How can I get my web browser to see my personal media from the NAS based Plex Server app?
could it be your new router has created separate subnets that prevent your player (Plex Web) from seeing the server on that different subnet?
Hi tom80H,
Thank you for the suggestion. I’m a bit unclear on how I would sort this out. My iPhone and Apple TV can both see the content. It is just that I can’t get a web browser on my MacBook to see the content. I don’t can’t figure out what the difference might be. Still puzzled.
Let’s check the local IP addresses assigned to those devices by your router. If the first 3 sets of numbers match they should all be in the same subnet (e.g. 192.168.0.x) — ruling out Server and devices cannot see each other because they’re in different subnets.
tom80H,
Thanks for the reply and the patience. Been a busy couple of weeks. Anyway … the local IP addresses are all 192.168.1.xxx . The IP is all being assigned via DHCP. I can see my Synology NAS via the web interface on my laptop but Plex opened in a web browser still can’t see the media stored on the NAS. Apple TV and iPhone, no problem.
