webOS Playback Issue

Connected my xbox to the same PMS - worked with no issues. So its not the server that is broken

Have you previously added/edited player profiles in the past?

The latest webOS app uses the Generic profile and supplies the settings to PMS to play items and when transcoding it should use HLS, but your logs show PMS choosing DASH for transcoding, the Tizen app also uses HLS for transcoding, but XB1 uses DASH. The previous webOS and Tizen apps, used different profiles, which would explain the difference in playback. DASH alone won’t break playback, but anything else in the profile could.

I believe User profiles should be in the data directory, but I’m not 100% sure for QNAP devices:
https://support.plex.tv/articles/202915258-where-is-the-plex-media-server-data-directory-located/

And a forum post about it:

The default Generic.xml file contains only the following:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<!-- Author: Plex Inc. -->
<Client name="Generic"/>

If possible setup a fresh media server, either in docker on the QNAP or on a computer and see if you are able to play back properly.

If you continue to experience issues, please enable logging to PMS from the webOS app and post the updated logs (ideally from a fresh restart of PMS and without background tasks running).

Im also having trouble connecting my plex app on my LG tv to my plex server. (App cant find the server on the same network)

Both are running the latest versions as of this post. Other devices are able to find the plex server fine.

All settings on the server and app are default. The app was working with default settings until the most recent update. Ive tried the allowing insecure connections but no success there.

I havent touched player profiles for my server

I believe the update mocked up the Manual Servers. Delete this entry (if you have any) and it may start working again. Also, try perform app complete reset. This helped me.

Same here I only created a new profile as a test a couple of days ago to see if that fixed it but it didnt. I had the old app - worked fine. Used the preview app - worked fine up until a few week ago so reverted back to old app. Upgraded old app and now same issue as preview app.
Ive reset the app, uninstalled the server and added a fresh copy of it but same problem

I can check this but here are the events that happened

So Ive just looked at the file system and there is a file called Generic.xmland it contains only what you said. Im confused by your message. I have an web os tv and a tizen tv along with XB. Are you saying they should be using different profiles depending on which tv it is running on ?

Ive added a new media server now on a mac mini fresh install (never had it on ther ebefore) and still the same issue

No, in this version of the app they all use the Generic profile. In the old app they used platform specific ones.

I don’t see any playback attempts in these logs, also make sure logging is enabled to the same server you’re playing back from in Settings: Advanced. With the log level set to debug in the app. You’ll also need to enable Enable Plex Media Server debug logging for the server (in General settings on: https://app.plex.tv/desktop)

Thats strange. but I have a update. The plex server on the mac - has started to play files. Ive mounted a drive from the qnap nas to the mac and added a folder on there. It plays all the files.

So i thought it might be leaving data on qnap so I uninstalled plax server and restarted the nas. Reinstall PMS but same error.

Is there anything else I should be doing ?

Ive attatched another set of logs - 2 servers. One will show the erros and one will show working.

Plex Media Server Logs_2021-03-26_23-07-06.zip (547.5 KB)

I’m not seeing playback attempts in those logs, both Plex Media Server.log files in there appear to be for the same QNAP device.

Where did you find this file?
Based on your logs make sure there isn’t one in /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer/Profiles at least I think that’s the location, but there could be others, I’m not sure if there are other locations, as I’m not familiar with PMS on QNAP devices.

Hi
I did a comparison between the mac and the qnap profiles - couldnt see the difference so I copied all the profiles to the qnap. Didnt work. I notice the profile lib on the qnap was in PlexMediaServer/Profiles. I googled the location and it should be in PlexMediaServer/Library/Plex Media Server/Profiles. So I created the folder and moved the profiles. Didnt work.
So I have 2 lg tvs. One is an led tv (2018) and one is an oled gx series (2020). Neither the mac mini or the qnap plays on the led tv, but the mac mini does on the oled. Ive logged to the mac mini and can see some activity in the system log - but not sure what you are looking for. Ive attached them. Plex Media Server Logs_2021-03-27_11-36-11.zip (922.0 KB)

Now Ive done some testing im at a loss even more.

There was a profiles directory and i actually delted it out thinking it would show a differnt error but same error happened
