Server Version#: 1.24.4.5081 on Linux Mint 20.1
Player Version#: Multple different players on multiple devices and versions
This is a long running issue I’ve had for years.
I have ‘remote access’ enabled.
I have manually specified a public port (port 80).
if I go do a ‘what is my IP address’ on that machine, it comes back with the same IP address that shows up on the Remote Access page as the public IP address.
If I go to that IP address, the plex media server web comes up just fine.
However, the ‘Remote Access’ page says that the internet cannot reach it. (Shows: Private ← Public -x- Internet).
if I open a client remotely, it connects, pretty much without fail, however, SOMETIMES, it will say that I’m not directly connected to the server and this may affect performance. This doesn’t seem to be consistent.
every so often, the ‘Remote Access’ page will show that everything is working fine, but if I check it again later, it goes back to not working.
My firewall is open on that server to the world for everything to reach it on port 80.
I do not have any VPNs running that machine.
I don’t understand why this won’t work. It seems the proper IP address, the IP address works fine through a browser, everything appears configured properly, but the ‘Remote Access’ page can never believe it’s actually working.
(Also, in case anyone is wondering, I’m still on v1.24, because 1.25 introduced some weird bug that causes videos to stop playing near the last 5% of the file. so movies tend to end right before the credits roll, and I’ve not seen anything in the changelogs about this being resolved. Other people have had this same issue, and they rolled back to 1.24 as well, and it went away, so I’ve just stayed on this version until I get confirmation the premature ending issue is resolved)
I can add the server logs on request.
