This is really weird, never had anything like it before…
I have an album - Clarence Penn - Dali in Cobble Hill (2012) which Plex refuses to identify correctly! It always comes up as Jesse Van Ruller - Dali in Cobble Hill (2012)! Yet, Jesse van Ruller is nowhere in the files/folder’s names or tags!? (however I do have lots of albums by JVR)
My embedded tags are correct and I’ve done the Plex Dance, Fix Match, Refresh Metadata AND renamed manually the artist under ‘Pencil’/General/Artist but it just reverts automatically back to ‘Jesse Van Ruller’
WTF is going on here!?? ![]()
Thanks for the reply, it’s fixed!
You put me on the right track…
There’s this thing I do, which is to use the Artist tag field to put the artist I’m actually really interested in on that album.
I’m a guitarist and I usually use that Artist field to put the guitarist on that album. This way I can search Plex for that guitarist and find all the albums he’s played on.
Furthermore, I will often create a subfolder named FEATURING where I put all those albums where that guitarist appeared on.
So in this case, the album was sorted like: Audio/Adam Rogers/FEATURING/Clarence Penn - Dali in Cobble Hill (2012)
This works fine for dozens of other artists in my collection, don’t know why this one was so hard to fix but I finally just put it in the root of the Audio folder, Plex Danced, and put it back in its original location and now it’s fine…go figure ![]()
For whatever technical reason, this one album got really badly messed up (and JVR wasn’t even the guitarist on that album!)
