What does Plex use image wise from the movies folder

I see “poster.jpg” here…

https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-movie-media-files/

Does that mean Plex will use this over pulling one from the net? If so, must it be named “poster”? What other images are supported?

There is a link on that page to “Media Assets” That leads you where you need to go to know. But here’s that link anyways:

It means the poster will be available if you ‘edit’ the movie.

Which of the various posters will be used by default, is a different matter.
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Plex Movie
There are several lines which can be enabled/disabled and reordered with the mouse.
The line ‘Local Media Assets’ (LMA) deals with everything that is mentioned in the above link.
Which line is positioned on the top, is what defines which datasource is used as default. If you position LMA above of ‘Plex Movie’, then your local poster will be used over the other posters.
If you position ‘Plex Movie’ at the top, then the poster from the online datasource will be used. Only if the online datasources don’t deliver a poster, the LMA poster will be used instead.

However, all posters from all datasources will be available for selection if you edit the movie and go to the ‘Poster’ tab.
