@sa2000, do you know what this error means?
shaka is the player library now used by the Plex Web App
shaka1001 is a general error meaning
An HTTP network request returned an HTTP status that indicated a failure.

What do people need to do to troubleshoot the issue? PMS logs and web client logs?

I would suggest both - plus screenshot showing the time of the error and url as well as the error text
It’s intermittent and doesn’t seem to be consistently triggered by particular files. It also seems to be new as of web client 3.14 or 3.17 (I installed them within days of each other so I’m not sure which it arrived in.) I’m sure I never saw that error message before those versions (although I’ve seen a perfectly-good file get skipped in a music playlist before.)
If you play music all day via the web UI, you might see the error once in a while. Unless you do have corrupt/incompatible files, what you’ll notice is that songs which failed to play due to the error, can be played again on another attempt. i.e. it doesn’t seem to be caused by a particular file every time. It seems to just be some failure to get the stream as mentioned above.
I’ll see if I can get logs posted next time I see it.
So, I am back. It happened again and this time clearing cache with a hard reload didn’t fix it. And I only have one other person streaming this time.
I am also using G-Suite Google Drive and I strongly believe it is because of Google API limit ban. Just before it happened, I was starting and stopping the same episode (about 4-5 times) trying to get the controls to disappear in full screen.
However, I waited about 5-8 minutes, as I was reading through this thread and now it’s back up and running. So, I have no fxxking idea. I can’t find the cause and I have never had this problem in the past. I have had 7 people streaming at the same time with no issues, but now all of a sudden it’s cropping up? I suspect a problem with the new UI the dev team implemented. Are they seeing this thread?

To investigate need logs and screenshot showing url, time, error.

For server logs see

I’m pretty sure it’s a 24h API ban. I have a Gdrive add on for Kodi that also is failing to play the same files that I have on my Plex Cloud. I am not sure why I would have got a 24 hour ban but I’m pretty sure that is it.
I’ve been having this issue with Plex Cloud connected to Google Drive and I don’t have any ban.
I recently bought a server (Dell PowerEdge R410) and transferred my hard drives into that and now all my media displays this error when I try to play it. Does no one have a fix yet?

Getting the same error here in Oz. Win10, Chrome, OneDrive (NOT GoogleDrive), grunt machine - no bottlenecks - tons of space free on SSD for caching or whatever and Chrome/Plex the only thing running on the i7. Plex server also a fast Win10 machine with all latest patches/updates (Win and Plex) applied as at time of this post. All running wired so not even wireless latency a question/issue. Has to be a software error either with Plex or a plugin. Happens with any kind of video - mp4/mkv/avi and SD through HD for a couple of mins music video or a full length movie - having finished playing one file, will drop out to that exceedingly annoying …
—snip--------------
An error occurred trying to play filename (without extension).
shaka1001 (Network)
—snip--------------
… message when it goes to find/play the next. I do use shuffleplay all the time - wonder if that has anything to do with it?
Interesting thing. Playing via an iPhone or iPad with the Plex app works perfectly - video after video playing with no issues at all, so it’s a Windows issue, not an iOS one, though I haven’t tried with a Mac. Hey - there are some things I WON’T stoop to!
… grin …
Any dev guru’s about to help us with this?
Im currently having this issue too. All apps work well just when on a web app
and playing music wont move onto next track, will only play one track then error.
See my earlier post for diagnostics
and post for what the error code means
Hi
I’ve recreated the issue with debugging on and attached the log.

Sorry there were 2 sets of logs needed - the server and the web app. See my earlier post

If you had disabled server debug logging, you would need to re-enable it beforehand (settings / server / general / show advanced)
Once you have logging enabled from both the server and web app, then please reproduce and attach the zipped server log and the plexWeb log text file
Need to see if there were issues at the server end when the player reported the http error
And would like an indication as to when it pops up - part way through playback ? screenshot also would be nice
Thanks
Hi,
I had the same issue for a couple of days. Then i figured out that it was related to files with stored progress. So I switched “Store track progress” off, and that worked. I don’t know what happens if I switch it on again.

@sa2000 : Here are my logs. I was attempting to access the Pear Channel app/plugin. I also included the channel log, just in case. Let me know what you think. The screenshot has the timestamp in the filename.

Thank you - very good diagnostics and good that you included the Pear Channel plugin log
It appears to be objecting to some recently introduced parameters In requests - they can be just ignored by the plugin as it should be transparent to them
Extract from the log for you to refer to the Pear Channel developer

For info and for anyone else seeing the shaka1001 error, this error is displayed for any unexpected response code to http request - in this case the channel returned error 500 - this does mean the Plex Media Server logs would be needed
I’m getting a shaka3015 error now as well, seemed to just start today for some reason. As a side, I have a test install of emby on my server that has no problems streaming and playing the files.
