Remote Access was working perfectly fine yesterday. When I checked today I’m getting the “Not available outside your network. Your server is signed in to Plex, but is not reachable from outside your network” message.
-My internet connection is fine
-I’ve not installed any new programs
-I haven’t performed any type of updates to Windows (it’s the latest version- no updates available)
I did increase the quality to Maximum, but I’ve moved that back to 4mb/sec. That didn’t help at all. FYI- My internet speed, according to speedtest.net is 214.97 Mbps download and 11.37 Mbps upload, so that shouldn’t be an issue.
I’ve tried:
-Rolling back to a previous version
-When that didn’t work I reinstalled the latest version
-I’ve checked to make sure exceptions are included for Avast and Windows Defender
-I’ve rebooted multiple times
It wasn’t necessary. It worked without port forwarding. Here’s a twist (a good one). I’m still getting the “Not available outside Network” message, but my parents (who live 120 miles away) and my son who lives in Kansas are both able to log in and watch. Something is triggering the message, but the server can still be accessed. Hopefully they can fix this, but I can live with the message as long as they can watch.
I tried to set up port forwarding when I first set up Plex, but I couldn’t get it right. It would never show as being online. It’s been too long ago, so I couldn’t tell you what I did at that time. I’ll try it again when I have time to read up on how to make it work. If I can’t get it to work this time I’ll repost here. Should I close out this post since it’s still online?
This is probably because they access your server throughPlex Relay instead of direct. It’s a known bug that PMS gives the “not available outside network” error while clients can in fact connect indirectly.
