What's the point of Optimizing?

So I optimize all my movies and videos and now I have two versions. When someone plays a movie or video remotely Plex doesn’t automatically play the optimized one and my PC slows to a crawl because a video is transcoding.

Is there a way to fix this? I can’t find any way to set it to only play the optimized versions.

Plex assumes your friends know how to select the version that’s been optimized for them - in error, of course, but there it is.

You have to ‘educate’ your users, or create libraries of optimized material that you only share with them.
