Does anybody know how long it usually takes for Tidal in plex to update? I’ve had it many a times that new releases take up to several days to show up in plex whilst they have been available on the tidal app and website
Have you tried using the search in Plex to search for the album? I’m not sure how long it takes for artist pages to update, but I’ve usually had pretty good success finding anything I was missing by using the search.
I’ve posted this issue several times but it seems no one have an answer, not a single reply from support team.
Try searching for “missing tidal albums” in the forum you will see multiple posts about this issue.
Yeah it’s just completely missing from plextidal, even with search. There seems to be a delay between plex and official tidal, wich from what I’ve experienced personally seems like random timing, would be nice to get an official response as to what is causing these delays and how long it takes for a release to “pop up”
Thanks for the suggestion thgh!
And thanks Vera.javier, kinda weird they don’t want to give an official response
Thanks for keeping the topic alive. I’ve posted several times about this same issue and keep hoping we’ll get some attention. I wonder if it will take a major release to get highlighted to get Plex’s attention. (like, if a new Justin Bieber album can’t be seen by Plex?). Oh, there would be a riot. ![]()
Lately the issue is getting worse for me. In recent past, usually 3 out of 5 new releases I want to add to my Plex library are not available on release date, but show up 1-3 weeks after the fact. Now, I’ve got a playlist of 20+ titles that were released since 3/26/21 that are still not available in Plex. (Most are singles, but some are full albums, and some are just certain tracks from new release albums).
Recalling the answers we’re received from the Plex team, here are the most likely reasons:
1> It’s a rights issue in your country (regional blocks).
2> It’s an issue with Tidal allowing 3rd party apps see specific releases (Tidal limitation)
Certainly there are other issues afoot in which Plex can’t take the blame:
- Some songs become unplayable when the label sends new metadata for the track to Tidal, and the original song gets removed from the database. The user then needs to delete the old version from the Plex library & re-add the new Tidal version. It’s some manual work to find it, but this happens to me 2x a month.
- Tidal removes tracks from their library regularly. Seems like every week some songs leave the platform. And it’s not just deep catalog or brand new releases, it really does feel random all over the map. I’ve got a playlist on Spotify of all the tracks Tidal removes. It’s huge.
But none of these explain the OP question of why it takes new releases so long to show up. (for example, some albums show up with 2 tracks out of 15 – this can’t be Tidal hand picking some tracks to show 3rd party apps, and it can’t be a regional issue). Case in point: Tauren Wells: Citizen Of Heaven (Live) released 4/16/21. Tidal shows all 15 tracks, but Plex can only see 2.
Using the Plex search, and clicking this album cover…:
Opens up into this screen, and only 2 tracks are available.
If history repeats itself, I can expect the rest of this album to show up by mid-May, but with recent evidence, the missing tracks might not ever show up. ![]()
I still contend there’s something else going on that hasn’t been addressed with the answers we’ve received so far. And with SOOO many issues for April releases, I’m surprised it continues to be unaddressed.
The other issues that may play into this: How many Plex pass users have signed up for this Tidal plan? Are there only 10 of us complaining out of 100? I suspect that the Tidal business isn’t a major revenue driver for Plex. Speaking of which, is this about the $1 discount? If I paid the full $9.99 a month, could I get the new releases on street date?
I don’t want to rock the boat because this integration is the coolest thing in the world when it works, but I’d love to see more consistency in availability of new releases. Thanks for letting me rant.
One last thought: Plex does seem to reply better when we provide logs &/or error messages, but in this case, I don’t think those apply.
I think it’s more users than we think, but clearly still a very small group compared to non-TIDAL Plex users. I actually just canceled my TIDAL subscription, but that’s more about TIDAL than it is about Plex (although some of the issues we’ve both run into are very annoying). Also, my TIDAL subscription was outside of Plex, so I don’t think that has anything to do with it.
It's not the case, I've been a Tidal subscriber even before the Partnered with Plex.
And it was not always this way, this problem started two/three months ago, near March.
I guess they are focused on other things.
About yortdog said that not all users seems to have this problem. Maybe it’s related to the plan. In my case I subscribed to the HIFI/Master plan. Maybe those who have the normal plan don’t have this issue
I have the normal plan & have the same issue. Lots of songs available on Tidal that are not playable (or visible) in Plex.
thank you guys for stepping in providing some extra information! My english isn’t the best.
*As for the regional part ; if it’s blocked regionally, I could understand. But why would I be able to acces it on Tidal ? if they don’t block it on their app why would it be blocked on plex?
*Also it’s actually also something I didn’t adress in my original post but for me it’s also a problem that more frequently songs recently became unplayable.
Should we be getting a worse service just because we got a discount?
Update : As of yet the album that I’m waiting for still hasn’t showed up in plex and another is added to the list

Maybe and that’s what i’m guessing is happening here is that we can’t play some content in third party software in this case Plex is the third party software.
That’s why we can only play on Tidal because this particular content is not allowed to be played on third party software.
But of course I don’t have confirmation of this just guessing.
