Wmc when it encountered a failure recording it would reschedule that episode if it found another airing. It does not appear that Plex dvr does this. Can this feature be added?
I think it should already do this if you’re using “New and Repeat Airings”. I’m not sure if it’s set to new only.
Assuming that the episode repeats at some time then it becomes a repeat then gets recorded. I don’t want to make that a manual setting though. But this DVR should know that if it fails to go ahead and reschedule.
As long as you have “New and Repeat Airings” set it should record the episode provided the episode is not a partial recording in your library. The DVR schedules recordings based on either “New Airings Only” or “New and Repeat Airings” it determines the “New” status based on the guide data. So if you have “New Airings Only” set for the recording and the recording fails the next time it airs it more than likely will not be flagged in the guide data as a “New” airing so would not be recorded if you only want new airings.
I understand what each of those settings do. The original ask here was if this feature can be added not if there is a workaround. I am trying to find a suitable replacement for WMC of which has this feature and many more. Its a extremely nice feature to have if something goes wrong with the recording. I have missed a lot recently because plex dvr on a recent update is very susceptible to failures recording if the tiniest thing goes wrong. i.e. the storage location for the library selected has a drive in powersave mode it says no destination to put the file. This has never been an issue till a recent update. So the ask here is if this feature can be added? The current options will record tons of stuff i dont want because of repeats just to catch the occasional failures of the dvr itself to record.
You might want to put this in the Feature Request forum.
