When remote access is disabled, the ios client cannot play, but the computer client can

Server Version#: 4.76.1
Player Version#:ios 8.1

When I close the remote access of plexmediaserver, the desktop plex client can play the video normally, but the ios client cannot play and cannot show the video list, when I open the remote access it is normal. Is there any way that the ios client can play normally when remote access is closed?

Sounds like your network might be segmented (e.g. the router establishing a different subnet for WIFI connections) and Plex treating the other subnet as an external access — therefore with remote access disabled, you can no longer see/access media from that device.

Except of course the iOS client simply isn’t in your home network to start with (e.g. WIFI disabled)

Actually, my plexmediasever is at location A, but my network to location A is not good, so I need to use another server B to forward the plexmediasever’s port 32400, so I disabled the relay option of the plexmediasever, filled in the forwarding url of B, and disabled the remote connection so as to enable I can connect to server B directly. Why is it that when I disable the relay option, fill in the custom server access url, and allow remote access, when I open the client connection, it still connects directly to server A?

Could be there’s something wrong about that configuration, causing Plex to fallback to the regular remote access configuration. Could be the iOS app needs to be force-quit and restarted to pick up the new configuration.
