Where do I start?

I have now been trying to use Plex for around 2 -3 years. I have got no where. I have uninstalled it, reinstalled it, changed PCs etc. Nothing seems to work.

When I install it, I see loads of streaming options, except for any local media. I have around 500 DRM free movies plus loads of music. I can see no option for selecting the media location.

The ‘Help’ articles tell me to access the Settings Menu by looking for this icon:

However, my settings have a different icon, which is just.a spanner with no screw driver. There are no options to add or amend the library location. I even clicked download the Plex server (again() and reinstalled it. No difference.

All I want to do is share movies from my hard drive to my TV in a different room.

This really should not be this hard.

It seems you have created a fresh account.
If you had Plex installed on this computer before, it might still have the previous plex account info stored. So you will have to remove the old account information first.

I also have the same problem but I am using the Synology DS 418. The article you linked to only has fixes for operating systems. Is there a solution for a NAS
