Why are ALL the Plex Smart TV apps (Samsung specific) so slow as of late?

All

Have been running Plex Media Server here for two years now and generally - using the Plex app on our 2 Samsung TVs has been fine. But this week - while troubleshooting some annoying problems with my Media Server - I have been testing Plex on our Samsung Q6FN (2019 Model), our Samsung Q80 (2020) and I threw in the Roku (2016 Ultra) for good measure.

On all of these devices - Plex seems to be mired in molasses where the graphics and visuals gap and freeze and crawl across the screen when switching to different sections of Plex.

Does not matter if it’s local Media Server stuff or the content offered by Plex itself - all of these apps feel like they are being weighed down by some mysterious force.

Network is hot (at 1GBPS) and everything seems to be fine.

What is the deal? Or is it just me?

SOnic.

From experience using a good and reliable DNS will improve your TV apps. Just manually configure your TV Network setting to 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 which probably be different to your ISP Default. Restart all network and Plex devices post change.

Just did a DNS Speed test using several different tools and my local ISP (Shaw here in Calgary) beats Cloudflare (30ms AND Google Public (30ms) by a long shot. Shaw is coming in at 11ms.

This is not to say I am not up for a change. Would it be fair to say that because I am already connecting thru Shaw that their DNS would instantly appear to be the best?

Ok, sorry for that assumption on my behalf but you must factor in reliability. Distance has been your enemy with those I gave. My location they work really well. Here is a way below to research the best DNS provider for your location, use your Server / Computer to use Gibson research method. It’s the most comprehensive method. Allow at least an hour for it to do it testing and it will confirm your best option.
