I continually have issues “updating” iTunes playlists, while Plexamp imports 100% every time. I have 116 music playlists in iTunes. Plex imports 62, Plexamp shows 116.
Anyone else experience this.

I don’t think Plexamp is importing any playlists to start with – it’ll use whatever playlists you have stored on your Plex Media Server (no matter if they originate from iTunes or not).
Now it has the full 116 playlists in the iTunes menu item, but in my Playlists menu item I only get 62. I used to be able to get the full set in the Playlists menu under music. Weird, they should be exactly the same (except for some playlists created in Plex). I always have created and modified my playlists in iTunes and then I end up having to update my Plex server (which is getting a lot more use lately for music).
But, I find iTunes easier for creating playlists.
I think importing from iTunes xml file has been designed as a one time operation, if I try to update (not checking the overwrite option) I end up getting duplicate playlists.

I’m not sure I follow you with regards to the mentioned iTunes menu item and my Playlists menu item… is iTunes your music library?
The Playlists tab of a single library might show a smaller number of items as it’ll only list those with items from that library. The Playlists section in the sidebar should contain/show all playlists, grouped by music/video.
It is my understanding that “Playlists” is not a library. There is no option to create a playlist within the Librairies options. It just shows every playlist on the server music or video.
The iTunes section only shows what is described in the iTunes xml file. It does not show movie playlists that show up in the “Playlists” menu.
The 3 dots (kebab) item on both “Playlists” & “itunes” offers the option to import from iTunes. Only “iTunes” section offers the “Manage Library” option.
