I have a movie that Plex can’t seem to find. It is a mp4 file. All other mp4 files are found but, this one just won’t add to my movie library.
it generally has to do with how it is named not the file type. it may have been mistaken for another movie you already have and thinks you have 2 copies now. the scanner log will state why the file was ignored assuming Plex has access to where the file is
You can also, from Plex Web filter for Duplicates.
You will get a list of DB entries with little blue circles with a number inside…
These are all the movies in your library that have 2 (or More) media files associated with it.
Do get info for those items
You will find all the file names associated with that entry.
If @BigWheel is correct in assuming your file got misidentified this way (Which is the most likely cause) you will find it.
Then all you gotta do it do a Split Files then populate with correct meta data.
That should help.
Thank you for your quick response and insightful solutions. Unfortunately, neither solution solved the problem. However, restarting the computer seemed to work.
I had already restarted the server client so, I didn’t think that was the issue. For some reason, however, restarting the actual computer followed by updating the library did the trick.
