is there away to scan tv shows also from IMDB or does it only scan from TheTVDB the TVDB has difference kind of names then imdb for example ancient aliens season 7 the names on IMDB are total difference then TheTVDB? it would be nice to have an option to scan from IMDB aswel to change the agent from THETVDB to IMDB?
there’s 2 available agents for TV shows:
- TheTVDB (thetvdb.com)
- TheMovieDB (themoviedb.org/thetvdb.org)
no IMDB agent (at least none that I’m aware of) – sorry.
o ok ye i trought you also could scan with IMDB since ancient aliens season 7 has difference names so i throught plex wouldnt scan the right tittles but that is false it scans the goood tittles only from Thetvdb whats the difference on The MovieDB? does themoviedb also has difference tittles for tvshows as imdb? because the tv shows 3% from netflix has difference tittle names aswel on IMDB then over TheTvDB i see TheMovieDB has the same tittle names on ancient aliens as imdb
depends on the contributors per show. so far I’ve been ok with the metadata from TheTVDB with only 1 exception, when DVD order and air dates of one of my shows were completely messed up in thetvdb.

You can overrule the library default agent when matching a specific show.
- Unmatch / correct match
- In the matching dialog: chose custom mapping (instead of „automatic“)
- Keep the show name and year as is but change the agent to the one producing the names you like better
- Search and confirm the correct match
- Wait for PLEX to update the metadata
- Enjoy

Awsome that worked i didnt knew you could do that just for 1 tv show since i have alot of tv shows and stil getting more more i have like 60tb storage atm im doing this for family friends but thnx i didnt knew i could do it this way now i can finally get the right tittles on some tv shows also there is a tv show called 3% netflix one some tittle names are wrong to like Season 1 episode 2 Capítulo 02: Moedas it should be called this but they call it coins? in all scanners i changed that manually the name
Ancient Aliens is a bad one. There are so many arguments with this show it’s unreal.

At the moment there is no good solution other then accept thetvdb order or create a custom order with a plex add-on.
