I am having the same problem on iOS 12.1. Home page works, but “Shows” are offline. Works fine on Web, Roku and Android TV. Only iOS devices appear to have this problem (iPad & iPhone).
We have addressed some connectivity issues in the very last beta. If you’re in the beta program already, please give it a try.
If not, but you’re interested in trying this specific fix: either enroll the beta program or DM me an email address and I will send this build to you.
Thanks!
Same issue here. Since a week or so I am not able to use the app on any of my iOS devices (iPhones/iPads). Webclient is working and the app on my TV Box is working.
I’ve started hitting the same issue over the last couple of weeks. I’m on the latest iOS 12, iPhone XS Max. Homepage of the app loads fine, but Shows and Movies tabs say I’m offline, and my content doesn’t appear in searches.
The workaround I’ve found is that if I go into the app settings, “Offline Browsing” is turned on. If I turn that off, then everything works again - until the next time I open the app, and then “Offline Browsing” has turned itself off again. I can’t figure out how to make Offline Broswing stay turned off.
Same problem but only on my ipad.
It works on iphone X and on Imac.
Thanks. Whatever was done, fixed it for me.
Well I have the same problem on iPhone 6S, nothing works. Everything is offline and I am the only user with Plex.
Have tried everything on WiFi and 4G, not good. Paying for something that won’t work
My friends and I connecting to my 3 libraries (at 3 locations) remotely are all having similar problems with the Android app. It all started with the totally new version, introduced many months ago. What seems different about my post is that it refers to the problem as happening when there is more than one library at different locations - and the person moves locations. The new interface does not allow on the Home screen to specify which server they are connected to. This option (IMHO as a design mistake) is only now available after selecting TV Shows, Movies e.t.c. What this means is that the Home Screen is not in sync with where you are actually, or what server you are now using. This could explain why even with the Home screen indicating offline for discovery items such as new movies, or tv shows etc, one can still select and connect to an actual library. I have not discovered a workaround, but VERY strongly suggest that the developers locate a library choice on the Home Screen that might solve a lot of these “Offline” and syncing problems.
Mine was working fine as well as my friends/family who I shared to. It wasn’t until I upgraded my FreeNAS to 11.2 and created a new PMS. I’ve had to uninstall and re-install the app on iOS 12 a few times for things to show up and not say Offline.
I had this issue on iOS. It might’ve had something to do with having two different servers but now I only have one. I tried closing and restarting the app, logging out and in. No luck. I just went to Home Screen Settings and reset the home screen. That did it!
Same issue iOS 12.1.1 latest app, on iphone and iPads
@wesman can you share app logs with me right after reproducing the issue? Thanks!
No connectivity via iOS on managed user account. Latest PMS version, iOS version, public Plex app version. This has been like this for months and is extremely frustrating…
Same issue. iphone X, iOS 12.1, latest PMS, latest Plex client on iOS. Surprised with so many people having the issue Plex is unable to recreate and resolve.
Same issue exclusively on iPad (fine on iPhone). Only rebooting fixed it
Same issue on Android, for the past few months. I’ve provided logs on logs on logs on logs and SamfromPlex and JesusMC have been unable to figure out the issue because “the logs don’t show a crash”.
Hi, had this issue on my android phone, read through this entire thread in search of a solution… and managed to fix it!
On the home screen I went all the way to the bottom, hit ‘manage home screen’ and then ‘reset to defaults’.
After that I went to my phone’s settings app, cleared the cache of the Plex app, force stopped the Plex app, and restarted my phone.
Opened the Plex app again and all libraries connected no problem.
For me it was just my Music library that appeared offline. Even though it was defenitely online. I know it was online, because I had two widgets (if that’s what you call them) added to my home screen. The ‘recently played music’ widget had the red ‘OFFLINE’ label next to it and wouldn’t play anything. However, the ‘recently added music’ widget did not show the ‘OFFLINE’ label AND I could actually play music files! Very weird…
I’m using Moto G 5, android 8.1.0, Plex app version 7.8.2.8255.
Hope it helps someone. Good luck.
Has this issue been resolved? I’m having this offline problem at the moment with the Plex app on my iPhone Xs
Toggling “Offline Browsing” Fixed my App today!
I had the Same “Offline” message and symptoms for a few days.
Restarts & force stopping app didn’t work. I didn’t want to uninstall or clear the cache.
I finally got the Idea to go into Plex app’s user settings (by swiping to the right or tapping my initial icon) and tried toggling the “Offline Browsing” option (mine was already off because I don’t use it)
However - success, my Plex App Finally went back to normal.
This was very strange but relieved.
Hope this helps
I’m having this issue as well on android since I updated the server to the newest version im not able to use the app to browse watch or cast to other devices nor can I do so from chrome its not seeing any of the other devices on my network. The Android app thinks its always offline.
