First step: Name the file correctly!
Arrival (2016).m4v
Second Step: Update your Movies library.
Check the file for embedded metadata.
If the name is correct, the metadata ambiguous or incorrect, and the Local Media Assets agent high (top) of the priority list, the incorrect metadata will be used to match with over Plex’s scanner (based on file name)
Thanks, i will research why the metadata is so messed up with converting with Handbrake.
Handbrake embeds garbage metadata. Simply remove everything.
Seen several “Madagascar 3” posts, and usually it is because they are converting the file with Handbrake into a directory that Plex is watching. The problem seems to go away when you tell Handbrake to make the conversion into another folder, then move the completed and converted file into your library. I think Plex tries to match the partially converted movie while it is being converted, and this causes the same mis-match to Madagascar every time.
Since there’s been a mismatch, you may have to do the Plex Dance:
and you will have better luck if you rename the file to “Arrival (2016)” as mentioned previously
That’s exactly what i was doing with Handbrake. Thanks for the information.
