Why isn't Plex downloading metadata for any TV shows anymore?

Every time I add a new season to an existing TV show already matched in Plex, it gets grouped with the correct TV show, but the episodes are just titled ‘Episode 1’ and ‘Episode 2’ and so on. I even created a brand new test library for TV shows and added my full directory, with zero positive results. Any ideas? I’ve scanned and re-scanned, matched and re-matched, forced a refresh of the entire library (which made it worse, and actually made most cover art go missing). I’d really appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks!

Sometimes PMS’s buffers for metadata get corrupted when other attempts to get data fail.
The best way to resolve it is simply clear the buffers.

  1. Stop PMS
  2. Follow these steps to clear the caches https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/202967376-Clearing-Plugin-Channel-Agent-HTTP-Caches
  3. Start PMS

Thanks for the suggestion! I just cleared cache for thetvdb, but it seemed to have no effect on when I try to download metadata for TV shows. The same things are happening. It seems to be finding and downloading everything, but nothing changes. Thanks again for any help!

I’m bumping this thread. My TV library is still randomly losing metadata and cover photos. Sometimes I can refresh metadata and it will actually refresh, but 99% of the time it doesn’t do anything or it loses more metadata. In the last week I’ve noticed at least a handful or two of TV shows suddenly blank with no artwork and no episode titles. Am I doomed to just do a wipe and reinstall and start completely over with my database? Movies are having no problems whatsoever… Thanks for any responses!

I’m running PMS Version 1.9.6.4429 on a dedicated Windows 10 machine, i7-4790S, 24GB RAM.
