Why Planes Crash - Plex doesn't like this meta data

When Plex recognizes files as “Why Planes Crash (2009)”, the server will “unrecognized” the media and the media disappears from my Library. If I rename the files and folder to something like “Planes” it will recognize files as a different TV Series and place media in the Library until I do anything to help Plex understand the media as “Why Planes Crash (2009)”.

Sounds more like Plex is merging your file with an existing item (or as something else entirely).
Have you checked your library for duplicates (via the Duplicates filter) after the item “vanished”? – similarly… any rogue items showing up as Recently Added that you don’t recognize?

It’s weird because I can see the Library recognize the media as “Why Planes Crash”, then the next time I do a scan, I can see the media highlight with a trash can sign, then the media disappears from my Library.

How do I check my Library for Duplicates?

Ok. Figured out Duplicates search. No. The media is not going into a duplicate. When Plex recognizes the media as “Why Planes Crash” the media disappears on the next Scan.

Ok, maybe something else is going on with my server. When I do a “Get Info” on the media, the file folder info is incorrect, and the files show as “Unavailable”. On the next scan, it deletes the media from the Library because there are no files in the erroneous Folder listed in the Library.

Issue resolved. Issue unrelated to Plex.
