Hi there,
Yesterday I was able to enable remote access just fine and use it my sisters house no problem. This morning remote access was enabled but not available outside of my home network. I have tried getting it back, but it turns green and then right back to red with an error message. Any help would be apreciated.
Start with giving more details.
What are you running PMS on and what version.
What is your modem/router setup?
e.g ISP modem connected to your Router !
If you haven’t upgraded PMS version and things remotely suddenly stop working…
Have you checked your actual IP address on your router associated with WAN access. My ISP recently installed CG-NAT on all fiber customers forcing those that use plex and other remote services to pay extra for a static IP. Simply if your router WAN IP address is different from the Public IP address, you need to consult with your ISP.
I have actually had the same issue since the most recent update. Windows 10 for my PMS, Apple AirPort Extreme with NAT-PMP enabled. IPv6 is link local only as per my ISP. Arris Surfboard for my modem. I have toggled NAT-PMP and restarted the router as well as restarted the whole system (computer, server, and modem/router). I have also set up a designated port on my router (wasn’t using one before the update) to no avail.
At this point I’m assuming it was something with the update and am just wondering if a fix is in the mix.

I don’t know what that means, but Plex doesn’t like IPv6. If you are on a publicly exposed IPv6 address, remote access will not work.
It just means that with some ISP’s if you have IPv6 active, even if you aren’t using it, it can result in interrupted internet connectivity when using an Apple router. I was just giving the information that it couldn’t be IPv6 so it could be ruled out immediately when trying to source the problem.
For remote access to work, your PMS needs to contact Plex.tv and provide it your IP address so it can send that info to the client. However, Plex.tv runs through Amazon Web Services which doesn’t support IPv6, so that communication can’t be made and remote access won’t work.
You can try contacting you ISP and see if they’ll move you to an IPv4 address.
I’m sorry, you misunderstood what I was saying. I was saying that I had IPv6 turned off because it is not supported. I was stating it so that it would be taken out of consideration while troubleshooting.
My solution was found. The update triggered something in windows firewall and shut remote access down. I was only checking the antivirus program that I use. I added the permissions through the firewall and everything works normally now.
Thanks.
