Windos 11 - Plex client says 'Get Media Server' even after it is installed

I installed Media Server, launched the inbuilt browser app and registered.
I then installed the Windows Client and launched it. After signing in I tried to access ‘My Media’ and a message saying get media server appeared. When I select that a new window opens saying the media server is installed. But I still get the message and can’t add my own media.

I never had this issue when I installed Plex on my previous Windows 10 computer…

Has anyone any suggestions?

In order to complete the setup you need to open your Plex Media Server through its local IP.
If you’re on the same machine… open http://127.0.0.1:32400/web in your browser. If you’re on a different machine inside your home network, use http://[PMS IP address]:32400/web instead. This will bring up a wizard/dialog where you can name your server and link it to your Plex account (as well as creating your first libraries).

Once you “claimed” your server (=linked it to your Plex Media Account), you’ll also be able to access it from other Plex apps or via http://app.plex.tv/desktop.

Thanks for your quick response.

Whether I use the internal address you suggested, or right click the server icon and ‘Open Plex’ I arrive at a page in my browser where I am asked to log in.
I log in and immediately see the Plex page of content with a list in a side bar one item of which is ‘Your Media’. If I click that the page displays a message ‘Get Plex Media server’ which is already installed.
I see no options anywhere to name or link the server to my account.

What am I missing?

Did you maybe have a Plex Media Server installed on the same machine at some point of time?

Thanks for the pointer.
I had installed the plex app and signed in to a previous server.

I removed all Plex references from the Registry, re-installed from scratch and now all is as it should be.

Thanks again.
