Windows Plex App HDR Passthrough to monitor

Hello!

It’s been bugging me for a while now because there’s a huge disparity between the official Plex app and the Plex add-on for Kodi when it comes to handling HDR content. I know HDR on Windows 10 is still not the best, but I think devs can work on passing through HDR Metadata to the monitor through the app just like how plex for Kodi is working? At first I thought I was watching my content in HDR but i noticed that my monitor is not switching to HDR mode when I play HDR content (which happens using Kodi v19 with plex for Kodi). I read through the forums saying that Plex sends a SDR signal even with direct play.

I’ve looked through the forums and it seems that people are convinced they are watching in HDR even though they aren’t. If this feature is being worked on, is there any link which we can see the progress?

If anyone thinks this should be a priority don’t forget to vote this post.
Cheers

Definitely plex should be doing this. It’s sorta shameful actually that a video player in 2021 is not passing HDR metadata. It should be easy to do.
